Grateful Heart...
I am grateful for...
....Donna, Kim, Brian, Leigh, Jennifer, Tracey and Jenn Towery for leading the trip to Sky Ranch. That's an exhausting yet rewarding experience for our 4th graders, and I appreciate their willingness to sacrifice family time and personal comfort in order to go.
....Becca, for her outstanding work with students who have above average needs. One student whom we were warned about because of her extreme behavior in preK has not had any major issues all year. Another child developed a serious medical issue but Becca has addressed it so well that she hasn't yet needed special services.
....Kami, for working with a couple of students on behavior issues all year. One was a student she had in kindergarten and she offered to have him again this year in spite of knowing the challenge she'd face with him. Another has made really significant improvement thanks to Kami's work with him, with parents, and outside therapists.
...Karen, for taking a student into her class who was having some issues that were causing disruptions. She's handled his issues really well and has helped him have a successful end of the year. I also appreciate the work she does to keep the vegetable garden in good shape!
....Cindy Felker, for her work with our dyslexia students. I believe that all of our identified dyslexia students passed their 5th-grade reading test! She also helps classroom teachers on a regular basis, providing resources and suggestions that benefit kids immensely.
....Leah, for her success with a behavior issue. She had to endure quite a lot to create a successful plan, including some intense parent conferences, but she did so and found appropriate strategies that have allowed her student to be much more successful.

The next time you think "my vote won't matter" please remember this- every vote does make a big difference.
"Jean-u-ine" appreciation
Let's plan on Jeans tomorrow just because it's a Monday in May (professional tops, please!) and you deserve it and then Tracey has been up to her usual clever tricks with a calendar beginning next Monday.... https://docs.google.com/document/d/1qowwHX2EFqSKYlXlNWPSYmaVasNAPO7vvSKXB-6FOeQ/edit?usp=sharing

Liaison update
After a lot of debate, we recommended Ashley Francis who is currently a 4th-grade teacher at Dove. Ashley previously coached (teachers) and was a data analyst in FWISD. We heard great things about her from her current campus and will look forward to getting to know her a little this spring, but she'll start full-force at the beginning of next year.

TypingClub District Trial
We are participating in a district trial program for a keyboarding resource called TypingClub. During the trial period, all students K-12 have access to TypingClub via Classlink.
I understand from fifth grade that their students are really enjoying the program and using it quite a lot to improve their keyboarding skills. If you haven't yet checked it out, please do so!
