1929- Stock market crashes, marking the end of six years of unparalled prosperity for most sectors of the American economy

1930- More than 3.2 million people are unemployed up from 1.5 million before the october,1929 crash

1931-New York Bank of the Unites States collapses

1932- Congress establishes the Reconstrustion Finance corporations

1940- Franklin Rooselvet is elected to an unprecented third term as president defeating Wendell Willkie
