What's Cooking in FACS!
FACS 7 with Mrs. Bodkin
Welcome to Family and Consumer Sciences at Trailside Middle School
The new semester is in full swing and we are having a great time in FACS and I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know my new students. Your children are learning about teamwork, communication and will soon be introduced to kitchen and food safety. They will be preparing their first recipe in the kitchen, the Bowknot, in about 3 weeks. Expect them to want to make some for you!
Character Playbook
Character Playbook is an innovative digital course that uses evidence-based strategies to educate students on how to cultivate and maintain healthy relationships during their critical middle school years. It is comprised of six modules that cover key concepts around positive development, social-emotional learning (SEL), and building healthy relationships. The course allows students to engage with true-to-life scenarios that include bystander intervention strategies and positive relationship examples.
FCCLA
We are encouraging all of our FACS students to join FCCLA. Each student enrolled in a FACS class will be participating in FCCLA activities, however only those that join can enter contests and achieve recognition for their work.
Kitchen and Food Safety
Ask your children to discuss the 4 steps to food safety with you. Have they been giving you any tips in the kitchen in order to keep safe?
