Message From Principal Daubs

Step Up Day!

On the last day of school, your child will “Step Up” to their next grade level. During Step Up they will spend time with their 2022-23 homeroom teacher and classmates. Knowing their next teacher will be a great way to relieve the anxiety that can come with waiting all summer to find out. Please know that a few changes may occur over the summer. IF your child is being moved to a different classroom, we will communicate that change with you.

I would ask that you please wait until the fall to contact your child’s new teacher. They are certainly looking forward to working with your child but need to focus on finishing up this school year.

Big picture

  • Two more vaccines are required for students entering 7th grade: a meningococcal vaccine (MCV) and a tetanus/diphtheria/pertussis booster (Tdap)

  • Students are NOT allowed to start 7th grade in the fall without documentation of MCV vaccine according to Iowa law.

Please check your child’s immunization record or call their health care provider to find out if they have received the Tdap booster and meningococcal vaccines (MCV) and make an appointment if needed.

  • These can be completed during their regular health exam, or during their sports physical (which will also be required for all athletes!)

  • Johnson County Public Health provides immunizations and can be reached at 319-356-6045.

  • If your child does not have insurance, please reach out to the Healthy Kids Clinic. Call or text 319-631-3204 to make an appointment.

  • If you have any questions, please contact the Wickham school nurse: hinman.pam@iowacityschools.org.
