the renaissance
and its musical wonders
Instruments of history
The musical wonders in the renaissance were very confusing with the type of instruments that they played, here they are: the bag-pipe, bladder pipe, viol, the zink, the shawm, the recorder, the sacbut, the lizard, the lute, and the gamba. These peculiar instrument names did not bother they're wonderous sounds that they all made. One of the signifigant genres of renaissance music was the motet. Motets were often polyphonic, meaning there were various vocal parts sung at the same time. The motet was typically in Latin text and was for the ordinary mass. The renaissance era brought about great change in both sacred and secular music. Advancments and societal changes in the renaissance era allowed music to flourish in both of these venues while also branching out into secular roles within the educated society. Sacred music was usually in the form of the motet or the mass. While secular music included madrigals and the rise of both instrumental music and dance music.
