Academy of the Arts at Bransom
February 26-March 2, 2018 (School Days 114-118)
A Note From Your Principal
Academy of the Arts Families,
This week is going to be a great week of learning for all students. Our teachers are more focused than ever on the needs of every child in their classrooms. With this focused attention, more students will see growth than ever before. What will make even more of a difference will be your participation in the process. How can you participate? The number one way to make a difference in your child's education is the read with him or her everyday. The next best way is to talk to him or her about what they are learning. Have your child talk to you about his or her learning. When a child can articulate their learning, they've got it. If they can't articulate their learning, you can help them by clarifying any misunderstandings.
Using your child's education as an avenue to connect with your child is great but remember that you and your child can also connect by spending quality time together around the breakfast and supper during the week. Participating in physical activities together is also a great way to stay connected. Don't wait to take time to connect.
It is hard to believe but there is only 2 weeks before Spring Break and when this week arrives, we start thinking about the final months of school. The final months of school are full of assessment, full of end-of-celebrations, and days of fun events. However, before these things take place, there is a lot of academic achievement in our sights. Please read the calendar dates below and stay informed. No one will want to miss out on upcoming events.
As citizens of our communities, it is our responsibility to speak up and make a difference. Voting in the upcoming election is very important. I want to encourage each of you to research candidates and issues and then exercise your right to vote. Early voting is open now. Election day is Tuesday, March 6.
In closing I want to remind everyone that your child's attendance is extremely important everyday. As long as your child is fever free for 24 hours after an illness, they need to be in school. Their participation in classroom activities will make a difference in their learning. Our attendance is on the rise and we hope your family is doing well. Remind your child to keep those hands washed and the mouth covered when you cough or sneeze.
Thanks again for ALL you do,
Mrs. Burchfield
