-Remember to SELL, SELL, SELL! Fundraiser orders and money are due Tuesday, Sept. 20.
Homecoming Parade is Thursday, Sept. 22, at 4 PM.
-On Friday, September 23rd, MES will have a School-Wide Hat Day! Students may donate $1, or more, to wear a hat to school. All donations will go toward our school’s total United Way donation.
-We have several new teachers to our system who could use our help in building their classroom libraries. If you have any extra children's books, please donate them to this need. Just send them with your child. Thanks!
SCHOOL EXCUSES: Each student is allowed 6 parent excuses per year. Parent excuses can be a hand written note or you may email the excuse to your child’s teacher or to email@example.com .
An ORIGINAL doctor’s excuse may be turned in from the parent by the student. Doctor’s excuses may be faxed to 205-228-3501 ONLY by the doctor’s office. We can NOT accept a faxed doctor’s excuse from a parent.
All excuses MUST be turned in within 3 days of the absence.

Science & Social Studies
We will finish our study of the properties of matter and begin a unit on American Government.
-Utilize school and classroom rules to reinforce democratic values.
-Demonstrate the voting process.
-Recognize the three branches of government.
We will also make butter by changing a liquid to a solid.
