STAFFING CHANGES FOR NEXT SCHOOL YEAR

As we come to the end of our school year, we want to congratulate Mr. Remenschneider on his Retirement! Mr. Remenschneider joined Queen of Angels Parish as our Liturgy Director in 2005 and then joined us as a Choir teacher in 2019. He and his wife, Leslie, will still attend Queen of Angels as parishioners after his retirement, so please say Hi when you see him at Mass.

We bid farewell to some wonderful valued teachers who are moving on to new journeys. We wish these teachers the very best: Miss Timmis, Miss Seals, Miss Harris, Mrs. Davison, and Mrs. Schuckel.

Our before-care and after-care supervisors, Mrs. Schneider and Mrs. Bradley as well as our classroom and office assistants, Mrs. Neireiter and Miss Herron have been life-savers to our classrooms, lunchroom, office, and wherever they are called, and we will truly miss them as they move on to new adventures.

We will miss all of you dearly and know that you will be very successful in your new endeavors. With these changes, we have also made some teacher moves in the other classrooms:

Mrs. Payne will be the new 3rd Grade Teaching Assistant.

Mrs. Hogg will be the new PreK teacher.

Mrs. Tandy will be our Full-Time Resource Teacher.

Mrs. Brewer will be our new Social Studies and Computer teacher.

Miss Young will be our new Art teacher and will continue to teach PE.

Mr. Woolard will be once again teaching Science and Math.

Miss Olivia Woolard will be our new Music teacher.

Miss Hannah Petrie will be our new 1st Grade Teacher. (She just graduated from Ball State)

Miss Katlyn Brown will be our new 2nd Grade Teacher, pending final diocesan approvals (She is coming to us from Sacred Heart in Warsaw).

Miss Julienne (JuJu) Gough will be a new PreK Assistant.

With that being said we have openings for a Fifth Grade Teacher, Middle School English/Language Arts, and PreK assistant.

BEFORE AND AFTER CARE NEXT YEAR

We will also be transitioning our Before and After Care services next year. For Before Care, there will be no charge to drop off your children in the morning. Some of our Specials staff will be monitoring before care. The time to drop off will continue to be 7:30 am.

In regards to After Care, we will be using the services of the Learn Resource Center. We will have more information later in regards to their services. You will have the option to pay with a credit card and they will handle all of the billing. The prices are very reasonable and you may find that you are paying less than when we ran the program. They also have a State snack program and will be able to provide free snacks in the afternoon for your child/ren.

As soon as we get their brochures and information we will get those items out to you.

A NEW FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITY

Recently the Church and school began a partnership with Notre Dame Federal Credit Union. Through this partnership we are now eligible for fundraising opportunities that NDFCU offer. Please go to the below link and check out these opportunities. One that may be of interest is the Elevate $150 program:

Here is how it works:

1) Schedule a 30 minute Financial Checkup appointment with NDFCU.

2) Meet with a NDFCU representative to discuss everything.

3) The non-profit (in this case Queen of Angels) receives a $150 donation on your behalf.

Please take an opportunity to visit the NDFCU fundraising website.

CHOICE SCHOLARSHIP UPDATE. BIG NEWS!

Queen of Angels Families,

As you may have heard in recent state news, the Indiana legislature approved a new budget which included changes to the Indiana School Choice program. These changes significantly increased household income limits which determine eligibility for Indiana School Choice scholarships (sometimes referred to as vouchers). This increase will allow many more Indiana families to benefit from the School Choice program. Click here for the new income limits by household size for the 2021-2022 school year. Income in most cases will be the adjusted gross income (AGI) from the 2020 federal tax return for ALL members of your household who filed a return.

In order for a student to be eligible for a School Choice scholarship, not only must the household income be below the limit for the household size, but the student must also have a “track” or “pathway” into the program. Here is a summary of the pathways available to a Queen of Angels student:

  • Previous Choice – students who have had a School Choice scholarship in any prior school year
  • Previous SGO – students who received an SGO for the current school year or any prior year
  • Sibling – students who have a sibling who currently or in any prior year had a School Choice Scholarship or an SGO
  • Special Education – students who currently have an IEP/ISP and receive special education services including Speech
  • Foster Child – students who are in foster care
  • Public School – students who have spent the previous 2 semesters in a public school

If your family’s income falls within the limits for your household size AND your student has one of the pathways listed, please submit an application through FACTS Grant & Aid here.

If your family’s income falls within the limits for your household size BUT your student does NOT have a pathway, your student(s) may qualify for a $500 SGO for the 2021-2022 school year, which will provide a pathway into School Choice for future school years. Please apply for an SGO through FACTS Grant & Aid here.

IMPORTANT

Due to the high volume of applications anticipated, it is imperative that all families wanting to apply for tuition assistance of any kind complete the FACTS Grant & Aid application by JUNE 11.

If you have any questions regarding School Choice or SGOs, please contact me in the school office at 260-483-8214 and speak with Christy Etter, Administrative Assistant.
