Self Identity
Be YOU! By: Christina Spah
What is Self Identity?
Self Identity is the recognition of one's potential and qualities as an individual, especially in relation to a social context.
If you can recognize your own potential and work at it, you can become something greater within yourself and your community. You can gain the confidence you need with the qualities you have to join in clubs, athletics, academics, jobs, and many more that suit your own strengths that fit your personality. If you take your passions and put them to good use, you are bettering yourself more and more each time.
If you were the same as everyone else around you what kind of world would it be?
High school is your prime years to find who you are. Each year you find yourself changing, carrying out your passions, and molding into the person you will be. If everyone were the same, we would all be robots living out the same lives. Being you will make you different, and being different will make you. After you graduate high school you will go onto to something new in your life, preferably something that will carry out your passions that make you who you are.
You're born with your own talents, so being yourself is key.
"There is a time in every man's education when he arrives at the conviction that envy is ignorance; that imitation is suicide; that he must take himself for better, for worse, as his portion;" -Ralph Waldo Emerson "Self-Reliance"
Dare to be different
Don't be afraid of being yourself, because you never know who is watching and being inspired to do the same. One person at a time can change a school, community and even the whole world. Be you.
