Principal's Message

Well we are off to a great start to the school year. We are still trying to fine tune all of our new drop off and pick up procedures. Thank you so much for your patience as we work through this. Reminder that the preferred morning drop off times are from 7:45-8:00 am. School officially starts at 8:00. We have staff out there as early as 7:35 to supervise our bus students. If you are able to wait until 7:45 to drop your child off in the morning that would help with some of the congestion. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Our pick up will begin at 2:30. We are trying to have our bus students loaded by 2:30 so that we can open the doors for parents as close to 2:30 as possible. Third grade teachers will bring their students to the covered shed for parents to pick up.

I look forward to another exciting year of learning. Please read below on when to keep your child home from school as this will play a vital role in keeping all students and staff healthy and safe.

When To Keep Your Child Home From School

Children who show signs of illness should not come to school. All absences should be reported online on the Stayton Elementary website. Here are symptoms that you want to be aware of when deciding to keep your child at home:

1. fever greater than 100.3 degrees

2. rash - new or sudden onset

3. colored (yellow or brown) drainage from eyes or skin lesions that are "weepy"

4. vomiting

5. cough-deep, barking, congested, producing colored mucous

6. stiff neck with fever

7. strep throat diagnosed by a health care provider

8. yellow color skin and/or eyes

9. unusual behavior changes (irritability, lethargic)

10. brown or bloody urine

When in doubt, please report absence and keep your child at home. If you have any question please call the office at 503-769-2336.

Students and Face Masks at School

Please make sure that your child has a face mask for school. The mask should fit snuggly and comfortably around their nose and mouth. It is also a great idea to pack an extra mask each day in your child's backpack. Wearing face masks is one of the most effective ways to not spread the virus.

Parents are encouraged to wear face masks when picking up and dropping off students, however they are not required when outside as long as you can maintain 6-foot distancing.

School Pictures are Wed. Sept. 29th

Mark your calendars! Lifetouch will be here for school photos. An order form will be sent home in Thursday folders. You may also purchase on line.
