Causes
- Genetics
- Negative immune system response to Gluten.
Prevention
- There is no prevention because it is based on genetics and antibodies, it is possible to grow out of it if a child is afflicted with an allergy to gluten.
Living with the disease
- It is really easy to live with this disease. It will require a change in diet in order to cut out gluten, very few people need medication.

- -In Children (affects absorption of nutrients essential for growth)
- Abdominal Pain after ingestion of possible gluten containing food.
- Vomiting after ingestion of possible gluten containing food.
- Diarrhea after ingestion of possible gluten containing food.
- Behavioral disturbances (Depression, irritability, poor school performance) after ingestion of possible gluten containing food.
- - In Adults Usually affects adults in their 30's - 40's
- Diarrhea after ingestion of possible gluten containing food.
- Abdominal Discomfort after ingestion of possible gluten containing food.
- Bloating after ingestion of possible gluten containing food.
- Steatorrhea, or fatty stools (caused by malabsorption of ingested fat) after ingestion of possible gluten containing food.

- Nerve problems (weakness)

Tests needed
- Blood test (Electrolyte imbalances, malnutrition, anemia, low Iron levels, malabsorption of vitamin K)
- Serologic test (Measurement of antibodies that break down gluten)
- Small intestine imaging (looking for damage)
- Small intestine biopsy.

Dermatitis Herpetiformis
A rash that appears after ingestion of gluten.
People with a Gluten allergy have to be careful
They cannot have wheat, barely, ect. But they can have corn starch and rice flour.
Small intestine wall
In the small intestine the walls are smoother then what they normally would be.
