A Note from Your Principals
For the past two years, our school-based "Sunshine Committee" has organized a series of actual, physical "Thankful Thursdays" for our Eli Terry staff. We choose a particular month, and then each Thursday in that month planned a special event or special treat to share our gratitude with the entire staff. In the past we've given the "gift of time", hosted a "graze table" in the teacher's room, scheduled a donut/coffee truck to visit, and a fan favorite -- a scavenger hunt with prizes! Our goal with these days is to bring our RULER Charter to life, as well as connect to our on-going gratitude campaign. We hope these days help ALL staff feel supported, valued, connected, and respected!
We are planning this year's series of "Thankful Thursday" for February...and lucky for staff, there are 5 Thursdays. In partnership with our Sunshine Committee, and the PTO, we'd love to invite parent volunteers to help with the planning, organizing, and implementing, so staff can truly just bask in the gratitude and our thankfulness! If you are interested in learning more, sharing a fun idea, or helping with next month's fun (at home or in school), please reach out to Mrs. Hammer (jhammer@swindsor.k12.ct.us)!
Shout outs are a great way to express gratitude towards those who have made a positive impact in our lives. Whether it's a staff member, friend, student, or colleague, taking a moment to acknowledge and appreciate their contributions can strengthen relationships and bring our ET community closer together.
So, if you're feeling thankful for someone in your or your child's life, don't hesitate to give them a shout out! Go ahead, spread some love and appreciation to those who matter most to you.
**NEW** After School Program Opportunity
Sign Ups are Open NOW
Empower your girl’s next chapter by signing her up for Girls on the Run right here at Eli Terry. Through movement-based activities, group discussions and community impact projects, participants gain the confidence to stand up for themselves and others. In fact, 92% of participants said that because of Girls on the Run, they feel they can speak up and share their opinions.
Run may be in the name, but Girls on the Run is much more than stretches and lap goals. In this after-school program, participants of all abilities learn to embrace their inner strength, make meaningful connections and give back to their communities. Support your girl’s growth by joining us this season!
The program is open to girls in Grades 3-5th grade and will take place February 27-May 9th every Tuesday and Thursday after school from 3:30-5pm right here at Eli Terry. The program fee is $175 and there is financial assistance available if requested. Registration is done on a lottery system so register today by visiting www.gotrgreaterhartford.org and clicking on the register button on the top right of the screen or scan the QR code.
See the flyer below for more information about the program. Please reach out to our site liaison Kathryn Army @ karmy@girlsontherun.org with any questions.

PTO Events
2023-24 Family Directory
We recognize that we have some new families who have joined our ET community, as well as some parents who may have missed the fall deadline for the PTO Family Directory!
As a result, the PTO is holding another "open enrollment" period, allowing new families to submit their information for inclusion in the directory.
Remember...this directory allows families to have access to the contact information for other families, helping to plan playdates, birthday parties, etc. The school cannot provide that information, so this is the way to get it!
If you'd like to be included in this year's directory, please fill out the Google Form below. The completed family directory is always linked at the bottom of each week's newsletter for quick access!
