National School Counseling Week
National School Counseling Week highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. I want to personally thank Jen Clark and David Fryling for being actively engaged in helping students examine their abilities, strengths, interests and talents; for working in a partnership with parents as they encounter the challenges of raising children in today's world; for focusing on positive ways to enhance students' social/personal, educational and career development; and working with teachers and other educators to provide an educational system where students can realize their potential and set healthy, realistic and optimistic aspirations for themselves.

FCCLA Week of 2/13/17
- The week will start off with a focus on Family. So pull UP a chair and enjoy a family dinner with an FCCLA@theTable event. Prepare, plan, and share a meal with your family, community, or local shelter! Don’t forget to post a photo of your favorite dish tagging #FCCLAattheTable and help us create an FCCLA Week Recipe book by sending your favorite recipe to communications@fcclainc.org. Photos and recipes will be added to a Pinterest board and shared with our key partners.
- Tuesday is all about Careers! Today, we want your chapter to host a career fair and highlight different FACS careers. Then post photos of the fair and use the hashtag #FCCLACareers.
- The middle of the week is a time for Community! Our National Outreach Project, Lead2Feed, focuses on meeting a need in your community. Consider creating community care kits. Take a photo of the kits while you deliver them to a shelter and tag them with #FCCLAUPlifts.
- Thursday is all about being a Leader! Tag someone who you think is a leader on social media and continue on with tagging different people as you get tagged. Don’t forget to use the hashtag #FCCLAURUP.
- Finally, Friday’s focus is America. Share the Unlimited Possibilities you have gained through FCCLA on social media and with your community, state, and national leaders. Call, visit, or write your government leaders and tell them about FCCLA and FACS education and why it’s important. Also, don’t forget to sign up for the THUNDERCLAP. The Thunderclap will take place at 4:30 PM ET, when a prescheduled message about FCCLA will be sent out on participants’ social media accounts.
Owens Community College Event

Weather with Ronnie!
Hunter Thomas (one of our amazing HS students who video tapes and edits these videos) decided to make a website that he is going to download Weather with Ronnie videos directly to. The site is amazing and has a place to subscribe so every time a Weather with Ronnie video is downloaded (Thursday night or Friday morning) all the subscribers will be notified.
This is a Project Based Learning Assignment and I think they are doing an amazing job working with Ronnie who is incredibly passionate about this and does an outstanding job.

Patron Pledges
The Spring Musical will be Pirates of Penzance. Attached is the Patron Form. It is a comic opera. The story concerns Frederic, who, having completed his 21st year, is released from his apprenticeship to a band of tender-hearted pirates. He meets Mabel, the daughter of Major-General Stanley, and the two young people fall instantly in love. Frederic soon learns, however, that he was born on the 29th of February, and so, technically, he has a birthday only once each leap year. His indenture specifies that he remain apprenticed to the pirates until his "twenty-first birthday", meaning that he must serve for another 63 years. Bound by his own sense of duty, Frederic's only solace is that Mabel agrees to wait for him faithfully.

Sibshops
Brothers and sisters of kids with special needs now have a program that’s just for them called Sibshops. At Sibshops, they’ll have a chance to meet other kids whose brothers and sisters have special needs and talk about the good and not-so-good parts of having a sibling with a disability. Most important, they’ll have fun!!
Sibshops are for 9 to 16 year old brothers and sisters of children who have special needs. Our Sibshops are run by a team of people who have a professional and, in some cases, a personal understanding of the impact a child’s special needs can have on brothers and sisters. Equally important, they have great kid skills!
