Welcome to the August 2023 edition of the QMS PAC Newsletter! In preparation for the upcoming school year, the Harold L. Qualter's Middle School will be holding an optional district wide Open House on August 31st. This is a great opportunity for students to find out where their classrooms are located (Team placement letters will be sent home prior to this event). The QMS Administrative team will be on hand to answer any questions and to help people find their way.

Below you will find information about Summer Reading for next year's QMS students. Please see the appropriate file below considering the grade your child is entering to complete summer reading....

Outstanding Textbooks from Last Year

If you have received a mailing notifying you that your child has an unreturned book, we kindly ask that you return that book to the main office as soon as possible. We need to have all of these textbooks in our inventory for distribution at the start of the upcoming school year!

The QMS Parent Advisory Council (a.k.a. the PAC) is the volunteer led, parent organization at QMS. We work in partnership with the teachers and administration to support all students at QMS.

Fundraising enables us to support our students and teachers by providing the funds for important items such as:

• Student Clubs - afterschool clubs like model building and role playing

• Student Activities - 8th Grade Luau

• Speaker Series - presentations on important topics

• Flexible Seating Options - bouncy bands, standing desks, padded stadium chairs for hallway reading time

• Technology - Smartboards and TV monitors in the foyer to display daily information to our students & teachers

• Staff Appreciation - annual staff appreciation events

Dislike having to sell “stuff” to raise funds for an organization? Well, so do we!

In lieu of tasking students and parents with selling typical fundraising items, PAC is pleased to offer a tax deductible option to take the hassle out of fundraising. Your participation is completely voluntary and very much appreciated! You can simply make a donation via Venmo, PayPal, or check!

Your donations will enable us to support our students and teachers by providing the funds for enrichment, technology, flexible seating, speaker events and so much more. Our goal is to raise $10,000 each year. This will put us in a terrific position to support all of our ongoing student activities and provide an opportunity to see what new initiatives we can help with.

The QMS PAC Executive Board is comprised of parent volunteers elected through an annual nominating process. The PAC is governed in accordance to its by-laws, which are reviewed every three years or more frequently as needed. The Board has oversight for all fundraising initiatives, events, communications, volunteer development, governance, and allocation of funds and grant awards.
