---INFORMATION FOR THE WEEK OF FEBRUARY 15, 2016---

SPRING HVEF GRANTS

CHS received several grants from the Hopewell Valley Education Foundation during the fall grant cycle, including $1500 for "CHS School Garden" and $8900 for "Challenging Students to Sit at the Center of Their Education: Configurable Conference Table". Please considering submitting a grant proposal for the spring grant cycle. More information can be found here.

ONCOURSE INFORMATION

Many teachers have asked about reports that will provide information about the number of absences a student may have from a specific class. Please use this guide for information about how to access absence information.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT *IMPORTANT UPDATES*


  • February 17 (faculty meeting) -- presentation on issues facing LGBT youth by Garden State Equality
  • March 7 (1/2 Day) -- We will be participating in activities and workshops at TMS and CHS focusing on wellness. Please click here to view the session descriptions, and then click here to sign up for the sessions that interest you by February 26!

UPCOMING ASSEMBLY

On February 18, Project PRIDE will be speaking to our 9th and 10th grade students during Session Three, Period Four. and our 11th and 12th grade students during Session Four, Period 6. Project PRIDE is described as "a community outreach program which brings minimum custody offenders, escorted by corrections officers, into middle and high schools to talk about their personal experiences with drugs and alcohol. Young people have an opportunity to hear real-life stories and to consider the consequences of substance abuse."

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

HOPEWELL VALLEY NIGHT OFF --HV's Night Off is a community-wide initiative designed in response to the increasing demands of work and school on personal and family time. With the support of local school officials, sports leaders, parents, community and religious leaders, all sports practices, classes, and homework will be cancelled on the evening of March 2.


FIELD TRIPS AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT REQUESTS

A reminder from the Board Office: please make sure to submit paperwork for field trips and professional development requests at least 45 days prior to the trip for board approval.

TECH TIP OF THE WEEK

QR Codes are a great way to engage your students in activities. Use them as a scavenger hunt, for homework, or for study resources. You can create QR codes using Google Sheets!
