PRESIDENTAL THOUGHTS.....
A huge thank you to OSKALOOSA and to all of my volunteers who helped make this convention a huge success! The executive board and legislative council worked very hard to put together an amazing convention that would be educational, professional and most of all memorable.
We hope you enjoyed it and had lots of take aways. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to attend our convention. Nothing beats a face to face session - playing the games and of course laughing and having fun with your #PHYSED friends and family.
Please consider joining a committee. Continue to be active in our association and pass on to your co-workers the importance of the work we do.
ALSO -- Keep an eye on our website -we are doing a major upgrade this summer. We hope you like it and find it easy to use. There will also be more pictures from convention added to the that site soon.
Have a great summer!

Random Acts of Kindness
Small Connections were made at IOWA AHPERD that will make a HUGE impact on kids in Rwanda! This is the result of our Friday night tailgate social -- please enjoy the follow e-mail note to Tom at US GAMES.
"We're working to equip 5 teams with balls and jerseys in southern Rwanda for a soccer league. You mentioned donating 5 balls and we would purchase 5 balls. And as you said, some type of simple pump would be needed. Small but STURDY would be the best. The area where these will go is about a 3 hour drive from the Kigali, the capital city, so finding a replacement pump or needles would be pretty difficult. The ages of the kids in the league will range from about 12-20 so use your judgement about what ball would be the best choice."
"We sure appreciate you help on this. Joe and I have visited the village where the league will be formed. Great kids in the area but very little access to positive organized activities so the development of this league will be provide a needed opportunity for them."
Thanks to Joe and Jeanie Crookham for the many opportunities they provide for students in our community and around the world. It's exciting to know that the connection was made between Jeanie of MUSCO Lighting and Tom of US GAMES at our annual convention. IOWA AHPERD helped provide an avenue which has now provided kids with some much needed equipment. It can be easy to take for granite the equipment that we have in our gyms an schools while kids in other parts of the world would do anything for a old deflated ball.
