December 17-18 Google Meet Schedule
December 17th and 18th will be used as additional workdays for students to turn in coursework. Teachers will be on their Google Meets from 10 am to 12 pm on December 17th and 18th for last-minute submissions and questions. Students are still expected to do their engagement checks on December 17 and 18 to be considered present.
If you have a student who still needs to come to the SHS campus, he or she is welcome to attend in-person. This will be a study hall all day.
Remind your student to finish strong. Your student must pass his/her courses to receive high school credit. If he/she fails a course, the student will have to retake the course, potentially delaying his/her graduation date. There will be no final exams/assessments for the first semester (unless it's a college course and the college requires a final). If you are trying to help your student manage his or her coursework, here is a way to view Canvas courses that may provide a more efficient workflow: Your Canvas Dashboard
Scott 2 Adopts 10 Day Quarantine Guidelines from CDC
As you may have recently heard, the CDC is now allowing for quarantine timelines shorter than the original 14 day timeline for asymptomatic close contacts of confirmed COVID positive cases.
Scott 2 will adopt the new 10 day Quarantine guidelines for staff and students. In order for the 10 day Quarantine to be in effect and the student or staff to be eligible for the shorter quarantine period, the following must be adhered to:
- Student or staff member must be asymptomatic for the 10 day period
- Student or staff member must wear their mask continuously for the duration of the next four days upon their return to school and/or athletic practices or competition
Scott 2 is glad to have a shorter quarantine option so that our asymptomatic students and staff can resume their normal operations sooner than they could previously.
If you have specific questions, please reach out to your student’s building nurse and they will get those questions answered for you.

IMPORTANT FINANCIAL AID INFO FOR SENIORS!
For those seniors on the Path to College, the FAFSA is an important part of the college planning process. The FAFSA is an application that provides colleges and universities with your financial information so that they can award merit-based scholarships, grants, work study, and student loans. The FAFSA for next fall is based on the student's and parent's 2019 Tax information. We encourage all our seniors to keep their options for next year open by completing the FAFSA. The state of Indiana has supplied the attached flyers to help. There are two virtual FAFSA completion events coming up for our region: Dec 19 and Dec 29. Please see the attached flyers for more information.
The state released this week that the FAFSA completions are down more than 15% this year. We know that the majority of our SHS seniors receive several forms of college financial aid. We cannot stress enough how important it is to get this completed.
