(NEW) Fact Practice: It is encouraged that students practice their multiplication daily 10 min and/or 3-5 times a week for a longer stretch of time.
THEY WILL HAVE MULTIPLICATION FACTS TESTS EVERY FRIDAY!!!
Math homework: As I mentioned at conferences, I have chosen to "flip" my classroom in math. Homework each night is a video of the next day's lesson. Students are expected to watch the lesson each night and follow along on their lesson page. I provide the information that is being practiced the day. Students will get classroom time to work independently and get help while working. Getting this lesson as homework has already shown "significant" gains in participation, effort, and accuracy on daily work. I highly encourage the video lesson be done each night! Thanks for patience and support!
Educreations Videos:
It can be downloaded on Ipads and/or you can log in with the use of the Internet by going to the login page for Educreations. Once logged in the videos will come up immediately.
Students will have to login using their own username and password. Videos must be taken care of before school the next day. Videos need to be 100% watched and lessons must be signed!
McGraw-Hill Connected Resource: Parents/Students can log in to McGraw-Hill connected to view and use our Treasures Reading Book as well as our My Math Book, lessons, HW, videos, etc.
How do you log in? Go to http://connected.mcgraw-hill.com/connected/login.do

Reading: Anytime students can read 20+ minutes a night I encourage it!

ΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙΙ
1. BASEBALL, SOFTBALL AND T-BALL – There will be a sign-up for baseball, softball, and t-ball on Saturday, February 27, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., during the basketball tournament at the High School. All kids ages 4-14 (as of April 30, 2016 for boys and December 31, 2015 for girls) may participate in the program. Late fees will be added to the original cost after March 10th (no exceptions).
2. The students are getting excited about the “Wild about Reading” Accelerated Reading challenge. It’s time to really hit the books and “”ROAR” into reading. The teachers have planned a month chock-full of special reading activities especially for our students. Once again, it is a “student self-challenge” with a school goal of 9,000 points. The classroom teacher and student will set a goal for each student individually. Each student meeting their “personal goal” will receive a “Wild about Reading” dog tag necklace and a cardinal kudo. In order for the school goal to be met, each classroom will need 575 points. The grand prize is a “FREE” trip to AllSkate. You will also have an opportunity to win a bike, play/cheer in the staff/student basketball game, or have computer time during the assembly by earning cardinal kudos for the drawing. The Northwest Kiwanis has donated four bikes to be given away in a drawing.
We have a lot of reading to do so… READ, READ, READ!
3. Everyone is looking forward to Spring Break. Enough of winter! Spring is around the corner, but winter is not over yet! The temperatures are still really cold! Students need to get outside for a brief period each day, so be sure they are dressed appropriately for the weather. Thanks for your help.
***Speaking of SPRING BREAK, remember it starts April 4th and we return to school on April 11th. ***
4. KINDERGARTEN ROUND-UP OPEN HOUSE - Believe it or not, it is time to start thinking about the 2016-2017 school year. Kindergarten Roundup Open House will be held on Thursday, April 14th, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the Arnold School gym. Students must be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2016. Please pass this information on to a friend or relative who will have a child starting school in the fall. If your child is already enrolled in Young 5’s, you do not need to re-enroll. Any questions, call
764-5700.
5. Our CARNIVAL date will be Friday, March 18th. This event is a fundraiser, and many workers will be needed. If you are interested in helping with this project or volunteering, you can contact Courtney Sauceda at courtney.sauceda@mccardinals.org with your shift preference and/or job/station/game request. Shifts are 5-7 p.m. or 7-9 p.m.
6. RAINBOW GIRLS - Rainbow welcomes girls between the ages of 11 and 20. The lessons encourage members to be strong in spirit and kind in heart, respectful toward nature, and giving toward all humanity. There is a group for girls 6 to 10 called pledges. They enjoy crafts and have their own meetings when traveling. Meeting are held at the Masonic Lodge, 355 Napoleon Rd., Michigan Center on the second and fourth Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. There is a joining fee of $7.00 and yearly dues fee of $10.00. For more information, visit our website at go rainbow.org or call Renee Brock, Mother Advisor for Jackson at

PARENT POWER
There are many ways you can support your child’s learning and school. Here are a few ideas:
- Spend a few minutes every evening looking over handouts your youngster brings home. Fill out forms to return to school the next day.
- Tell your child’s teacher if you can help them out at school or home.
- Make sure teachers know you appreciate their efforts. From time to time, send a thank-you note or an email.
- Contact your youngster’s teacher immediately if you see a problem. Working together will help your child succeed.
- Attend conferences, parent meetings, and school events regularly. Home & School Connection
