NEWS & NOTES

SUMMER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Summer professional development offerings have been added in HCP. There are hundreds of trainings available, so please visit HCP to learn more and register for PD that interests you.

PERSONAL LEAVE FOR TESTING: It has come to our attention that some of you may have taken personal leave for TPRI/DRA/TANGO testing during one of the testing windows this year. Please let me know by this Wednesday, 4/20, if you have taken any personal leave this year for this purpose.

PROJECT LEAD THE WAY (PLTW): At our recent Instructional Leadership Team meeting, the Project Lead the Way Launch program was discussed. This program offers curriculum modules aligned with grade level TEKS that are presented through a problem/project based learning format. AISD is supporting PLTW implementation for all schools that are interested. Some grade levels have expressed interest in possibly implementing these modules for science instruction. The modules don't cover all science TEKS, but could be used to cover a good amount of the grade level science content. Just to be clear, this is optional, and we will support any grade level that would like to pursue it. Go to the PLTW link below to learn more about this resource. Please let me know if you have questions and let me know if your grade level is interested in possibly implementing a PLTW module.

VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION LUNCHEON: We are so grateful for the support of parents, grandparents and community volunteers and are fortunate to have such great support at Davis. To recognize all of our volunteers, we will be hosting our annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon on Tuesday, April 26. We ask that each teacher sign up to bring something to share for this luncheon. A signup sheet is posted in the lounge, and there are many choices available. We also ask that teachers eat lunch in the gym on the day of the luncheon. You will get to grab a plate of really good food and sit with your teammates and volunteers to enjoy lunch together. This is a really nice way to show appreciation for all that our volunteers do for all of us.
