Weekly Updates from Discovery Elementary - August 25, 2022
The Start of the 2022 - 2023 School Year
As we prepare for the start of the new school year, we want to make you aware of the updated schedule. The official first day of in-person school for 1st – 5th grade students will be Friday, Sept. 9 and the first day of school for Kindergarten students will be Monday, September 12. On September 7 and 8 (as well as Sept. 9 for Kindergarten students) instead of all students coming to school, teachers will be meeting with individual families for Family Engagement conferences and Kindergarten WaKIDS conferences. These meetings will occur on September 7 and September 8 for 1st – 5th grade families, and on September 7, 8 and 9 for Kindergarten families.
Please check your email on Aug. 29 to schedule your child's Engagement Conference or Kindergarten WaKIDS Conference. An email will be sent through ParentSquare indicating your child's tentative class placement/teacher assignment. Activate your ParentSquare account to sign-up for a conference to meet with your child's teacher (Please note: Due to continuing enrollment, teacher assignments are tentative.) Families may choose if they prefer in-person conferences or a conference online, over Zoom. Conferences for 1st - 5th grade families will be 20-minutes and WaKIDS conferences for Kindergarten families will be 30-minutes.

Teacher Assignments in ParentSquare on Monday, August 29
Each year Discovery families are notified, usually by postcard, who their student's teacher will be for the year. This year you will receive information about your child's classroom teacher through a ParentSquare email on Monday, August 29. To allow families time to schedule conferences with the teachers, we are sending this information early. However, we are still registering and withdrawing students, and will continue to balance and adjust class rosters as enrollment changes.
