Sierra Verde Weekly Update
April 1, 2021
Amazing in April
We had a great four days on campus filled with school spirit thanks to another successful week planned by Student Council! We concluded today with all grade levels decked out in their own colors to head into the 3-day weekend.
Next week, we open up our state testing window for 3-8th grade. Our Vipers are ready to showcase all they have learned through this year and we know everyone is prepared to bring their "A" game over the coming weeks. We ask that all students in 4-8th grade bring their Chromebooks fully charged with headphones/wired earbuds (bluetooth/airpods not allowed) each day along with a refillable water bottle, and books to ready in case they finish testing early. Students will not be allowed to use their phones or any other electronic devices during testing sessions. Students are also permitted to bring mints with them to eat during the test, SV will have individually wrapped mints available for students, but we understand some kids may want to bring their own.
Sierra Verde in partnership Aurora Behavior Health, and their Community Liason, Debi Elder has the following advice as we head into testing:
Students: Get enough sleep. Eat a good, healthy breakfast. If you get stressed before or during the test, do some deep breathing (count to 5 on inhale and exhale) Take your time in completing the test. Realize that the past year has been super unpredictable for you and don’t stress about your scores.
Parents: Talk with your student about their stress related to taking the test, let them express any anxiety. Make sure they have a good dinner the night before, get to bed on time, and have a healthy breakfast. If your student is causing you stress, do some deep breathing and focus on something positive.

Campus Safety
Please remember to slow down around campus especially from 8:15 - 8;45 and 3:10 to 3:45 as students are walking and riding around the campus at arrival and dismissal. Please obey all posted signs/speed limits, and be sure to never drive through any intersection until the crossing guard is on the curb and off the street.
Please also remember that no student can be dropped off prior to 8:30 am in the morning unless they are going to the cafetaria for breakfast at 8:10. We do not have any supervision or coverage as duty coverage and supervision starts at 8:30 am. Thank you for doing your part to keep our campus & community safe!
