Jesse Boyd Elementary~~~ March 17, 2017
Greetings from Dr. Rose
Greetings from Jesse Boyd where we are battling like a bulldog and going for gold this school year while inspiring and equipping our students for success. Happy St. Patrick's Day to you all. It certainly doesn't feel like March 17th! Our March weather has been interesting and not done much to help with colds, allergies, and viruses. Please remember that if your student is absent, please send a note so that we can take away any unexcused absences. You can email your child's teacher, email Mrs. Teague, our powerschool attendant,at tsteague@spart7.org, or you can write a note and send it in with your student upon their return. We appreciate your help with that matter.
Hopefully the weather will be warming up just in time for spring holidays in two weeks. Before we get to spring holidays, we have many activities here at JBE. I hope you'll read further to catch up on some of those activities.
Scholastic Book Fair
March 20-24th is our annual Scholastic Book Fair. Students will be going to the book fair with their class during the week. We will also have the Book Fair open the night of Student Led Conferences, Thursday, March 23rd. Please help support our PTSO and get some wonderful summer reading.
There may still be some opportunity to volunteer at the Book Fair and be entered in a drawing for a Book Fair gift card. Use the following link to sign up to volunteer: .
Goodies for Grandparents
This PTSO social event is always held during our Book Fair. It is a very special time for our students and their grandparents or other special family/friend. Be sure to complete the RSVP on the flyer. This enables us to get your student to their grandparent.
Spring Pictures
We will be having Spring Pictures taken on Wednesday, March 29th.
Lost and Found
Our Lost and Found is overflowing with jackets, sweaters, coats, hoodies, and sweatshirts. If your student has lost an item, please remind them to check our lost and found prior to Spring Break.
Seussical the Musical
Our musical was a wonderful success. Our student performers were outstanding, the backstage crew collaborated perfectly, and our directors had them all ready with amazing costumes, superb acting, and beautiful music. BRAVO to all!
Hats for Healing
The JBE student body will be raising money soon to help a couple of families at JBE with medical bills. In April we will be having HATS FOR HEALING. Students paying $1 (or more) will be able to wear hats to school on certain dates. All the money raised will go towards helping our families.
Sports Coats/Blazers
Our SUIT program (Show Up in Ties) will soon be taking a field trip to the Piedmont Club for lunch. The Piedmont Club requires a sports coat/blazer and tie. Many of our young men do not have a sports coat/blazer. Would you mind helping us receive any donations by asking for assistance from your family, friends, churches, or any other organizations? We are taking donations of gently used sports coats/blazers in sizes Youth 8-16. From a post on the NEXT DOOR app, we received several donations of gently used sports coats. Any donations can be dropped off in the front office of JBE anytime Monday-Friday from 7:30-4pm.
