Academy of the Canyons News for the Week of 5/31-6/4

Greetings AOC Families,

We've made it! I'm so proud of our students, staff, and families for making it through this incredibly challenging school year! This is the last week of school and the week of COC final exams.

Congratulations to our Seniors who graduate from AOC this Saturday, June 5th at 9:00am! And, we have 55 students this week graduating from COC with at least one AA degree. This is outstanding!

Please note that the entire AOC campus is no longer located at Castaic High School. We have officially moved back to AOC's home located at the COC Valencia campus.

We will see you on Tuesday, June 1st during Book Return at AOC, located at the COC Valencia campus.

During final exams week, if your student needs a place to take their final exams or is in need of wi-fi access, please reach out to Dr. Fine at jfine@hartdistrict.org

Have a great week, AOC! There is no school tomorrow, Monday, May 31st in honor of Memorial Day. And, good luck to our students on their COC final exams!

Sincerely,

Dr. Juliet Fine

"It's Only the Beginning", a poem written by AOC Senior, Svetlana

Please enjoy this original poem written by Svetlana, an AOC Senior who has been moved by this school year. Her words inspire our graduating class of 2021. Thank you, Svetlana for sharing your work with us! We are all "turning the page" to "live full-heartedly" after this year and as you gracefully said, "not with anger, not with rush, not with confusion, but with readiness."

Academy of the Canyons

Located on the campus of College of the Canyons, AOC is proud to be the middle college high school in the William S. Hart Union High School District serving students 9th-12th grades in the Santa Clarita Valley. Students have the opportunity to earn between 24 and 44 transferable college units, prior to receiving their high school diplomas. Upon graduation, the majority of Academy students pursue their post high school education by continuing at COC and completing their college transfer requirements in only one year after high school. Other AOC students go directly into a four-year university, bringing their community college units with them and placing themselves well into their freshman and sophomore years at the college level. While attending AOC as a high school student, community college tuition is waived for established California residents.
