Parallelogram Examples

In rectangle RSBF, SF = 4x + 20 and RB = 6x - 12. What is the length of a diagonal? 1.) Set equal to each other SF and RB. 2.) 4x + 20 = 6x - 12. (Plug in the numbers). 3.) -2x = -32 (Subtract 6x and 20 to both sides. 4.) -2x/-2 = -32/-2 (divide both sides by -2). X = 16

The properties of parallelogram

Opposite sides are congruent

Trapezoid and Isosceles Trapezoid

Trapezoid and Isosceles Trapezoid Example

Side "SP" is equal to 180. Since the measure of "S" is known to equal 106 , to find "P" minus 106 from 180 which equals 74. Since the base angles are congruent then "Q" equals 74 also.

Kite

A kite is a quadrilateral with two pairs of consecutive sides congruent and no opposite sides congruent. If a quadrilateral is a kite, then its diagonals are perpendicular.

Kite Example

M<1 = 90 because it is a right angle. M<3 = 52 because all parts of congruent triangles are congruent 1.) measure of angle one plus measure of angle two plus fifty two equals one hundred and eighty . 2.) ninety plus fifty two plus measure of angle two equals one hundred and eighty . 3.) combine like terms and subtract one hundred and forty two from both sides . 4.) measure of angle two equals thirty eight .
