York Avenue Family Newsletter - 9/19/21
Message from Mrs. Richardson
Dear York Avenue Families,
Thank you for joining our Back to School Night last week! Our first full week is approaching! I see everyone falling into their routines beautifully and feeling more comfortable as each week passes.
As I visit classrooms and walk around York Ave each day, I am amazed at all the positive things that are going on! Students are engaged in learning and they are having fun. The YA staff work each day to build positive relationships with students and continue to make sure they feel loved and cared for. I am so proud of our school community!
Reminders:
H&S will be purchasing a t-shirt for all students to wear on school spirit days. Please fill out this form to enter your child's size. You'll need to complete a separate form for each child. Thank you to our generous H&S for helping to foster a sense of belonging and community through school pride!
Here are some important dates:
Sept. 21--First H&S Meeting of the year at 6:30 pm. Use this link to join:
Home and School Meeting Link 09-21-21 @ 6:30
This meeting will be virtual and we will discuss our Title One program as well as ways to support our school. Parent volunteers are so important and helpful to our school. Without our Home and School, we wouldn't have many of the wonderful field trips and school activities for our students. Please consider joining this meeting. We could use additional volunteers.
Warmly,
Dipa P. Richardson
Principal
Reading Corner
National Education Association’s Read Across America
This is a year-round program that focuses on motivating children to read through events, partnerships, and reading resources that are about everyone and for everyone.
Each month, books are recommended for elementary, middle grades and young adults around a theme. The titles featured include books that students can see themselves reflected in, as well as books that allow readers to see a world or a character that might be different than them.
September 2021: Embrace New Beginnings
Some of the monthly featured books can be found in the YA library, the Lansdale Public Library or other libraries in the area.
