How To Guard Against Tyranny

Federalism
Federalism is another word for a compound government. This kind of government will check others powers and the branches of the government. The central government and the states can both set taxes, borrow money, set up courts and make and enforce laws.
Separation Of Powers
All 3 branches have different power but have all the same amount of power. According to James Madison, powers can accumulate even when leaders are elected. Each branch has a different primary power, the legislative branch makes laws, the executive branch enforces the laws and the judicial branch interprets the laws.
Checks and Balances
This is the power to check the power of other branches. The legislative branch can veto, impeach and remove him/her and approve nominations of the executive branch. The president or the executive branch can check the power of the Supreme Court or the judicial branch by nominating the judges. Dividing the powers allows the branch of goverment to limit the powers of the other 2 branches.
Big States vs. Small States
The House of Representatives is based of of your states population. Rhode Island and Delaware only had one representatives because they Re the smallest states of population. Virginia had ten representatives because they had the highest population. Larger states would have more representatives and smaller states wanted it to be by the senate because they would have equal representatives. This prevented large states to not dominate over smaller states.
