FSE Weekly Update
There's a Superhero in Each of Us!
September 9, 2016
Kristen Wiatrek, FSE Guardian of the Galaxy!
Thank you Kristen for testing our Kindergarten students. It helps us so we can continue working on routines and expectations!
There is a bulletin board next to the teacher boxes. Please write positive notes of encouragement and recognition to staff members you notice going above and beyond! Each week we will recognize a Superhero of the Week!
Recess and Restroom Monitoring
1. Stagger grade level restroom breaks. Only allow a certain number of students in the restrooms at a time. Stand outside the restroom doors. Set high expectations for restroom behavior early in the year.
2. Do not have grade levels overlap recess times. Student safety is our number one priority and we don't want multiple grade levels out at one time.
What is our hope?
Calling for FISD Education Foundation Grants
The Floresville ISD Education Foundation (FISDEF) is excited to once again offer teachers the opportunity to apply for grants to support innovative programs or projects that provide higher levels of student learning. The Innovative Teaching Grants are designed to encourage, facilitate, recognize and reward innovative and creative instructional approaches that enhance student academic performance. This year the FISDEF has increased the total amount of grants awarded from $5000 to $15,000. For more details visit the FISD web page http://www.fisd.us/apps/pages/index.jsp?uREC_ID=356110&type=d&pREC_ID=770181. Scroll down to the bottom of the site for application and grant instructions.
All teachers are encouraged to apply. The more applications received, the more grants the foundation can award. Don’t miss the October 21st deadline to submit a grant. Many thanks to the FISDEF members for their support of our most critical asset – our teachers!

TTESS Focus of the Week
The teacher uses formal and informal methods to measure student progress, then manages and analyzes student data to inform instruction.
Some questions you may consider:
1. Which assessment data was examined to inform planning for this lesson?
2. What does pre-assessment data indicate about student learning needs?
A proficient teacher consistently provides feedback to students, families, and other school personnel while maintaining confidentiality.
