Hawk Happenings!

Holy Rosary Bilingual Academy

Message from the Principal - Oct. 10, 2018

Happy Wednesday!

I hope you have noticed all of the wonderful changes happening at our campus lately. In addition to the new playground equipment and the restoration of the basketball hoops, one of our amazing families donated a Gagaball pit. They purchased the structure and Gray Lumber donated the wood for the frame. Then, this weekend (in the rain) several families came out and put everything together. It looks fantastic and the kids are having a blast...even though they haven’t all determined the rules yet. Beyond that, we had a large group of people out to install irrigation for the field and it was hydroseeded this morning (thanks to the Depave grant). The irrigation was done by a professional group and the services were procured by another of our families. The company got all of the equipment donated from their vendor so the cost was greatly reduced to us! As I look around both inside the building and outside on the campus, I am reminded of how much our school relies on the generosity of each and every member of our community. Thank you for the time you give, as well as the donations that allow us to grow our program. We greatly appreciate it!!

In this week's mailer, you will find a very special envelope. It is the launch of our Annual Fund. It features a special story about the Peterson and Lorella-Kuzu families, as well as pictures of some of our beautiful children. Please take time to look through the information and determine at what level you can support this campaign, which is vital to the annual budget of our school. Again, thank you for your support of Holy Rosary Bilingual Academy!

Have a wonderful week and don’t forget that there is NO SCHOOL on Friday due to a staff retreat for the entire Seattle Archdiocese. We will see everyone back, with spiritually refreshed souls, on Monday!

Blessings,

Annual Fund Kicks Off!

Holy Rosary’s Annual Fund Appeal kicks off this month and runs through January. This year, we are asking for 100% participation (which is part of each family's signed commitment) from all families with a donation to this fund. We hope that you will prayerfully reflect on what is the appropriate amount for your family. This fund is important to our school as it helps fund curriculum, staff training, financial aid, and many other initiatives. Please check your weekly communication folder to read more about our Annual Fund which features the Peterson family (school supporters) and the Lorella-Kuzu family (current school family) to learn why they support Holy Rosary Bilingual Academy. This year’s goal is $100,000. Donations will be accepted via the pledge envelope or you can easily donate online at: https://secure.lglforms.com/form_engine/s/o5kPfZnwU-9YPZxE8gatew

If you have questions about this or any of the development initiatives, please contact Sarah McKinney at smckinney@holyrosarybilingual.org

Limited Time Spirit Gear Option

When Mrs. Silva passed away so suddenly, it really caught our staff by surprise and was hard to process. As the school's principal, I looked for a way to find a symbol to show our staff unity for Mrs. Silva this year. Since no one had more spirit than her and she loved yellow, I had our spirit gear vendor, Ink, Inc. create a special shirt for us. It is the same design on the front of the long-sleeved spirit shirt, but it is in yellow with blue lettering and it says Team Silva on the back. When our staff wore this, many of the children who had Mrs. Silva as a teacher asked if they could also purchase one. Therefore, we sent home a special order form today for anyone who wants to purchase this shirt. We will collect orders for the next couple of weeks. Again, it is available only as a long-sleeved t with Team Silva on the back and is yellow with blue lettering. Please see the picture below. The cost is $19.

Are You Cleared to be a Chaperone for the Year?

We have a lot of field trips and events coming up and will be calling on chaperones. We need to make sure that adults who are working with children have received Virtus training and a background check. If you have, that's great! It is good for 3 years! If not, no worries, you can sign up for a one-time class and you are good to go for 3 years. After that, you just do a 20 minute online renewal in three years. Here are some upcoming classes, as well as the link for more info or to sign up:
