In the Know with the Farnsworth SRO
By: Officer Todd Danen
Farnsworth students, summer is just around the corner, which means hitting the roads again with our bikes. One thing to think about this spring / summer with our bikes is bike theft. About 500 bicycles are stolen a year in the City of Sheboygan.
Bicycles left unattended can easily be stolen without the owner’s permission or knowledge. When these bicycles are recovered, determining who the rightful owner is becomes difficult if the bike is not licensed.
The following steps can prevent you from becoming a victim of bike theft.
Keep your bicycle in a locked residence, garage, or shed.
Secure bikes outside using a bicycle lock to immovable objects, such as trees, posts, or fences.
License your bicycle through the City of Sheboygan, and maintain documentation of your bicycles’ serial numbers.
Report any theft to the Sheboygan Police Department.

Restaurant Review: Heavenly Soups
By: Paige Benish
Heavenly soups is a family run soup shop in Sheboygan Falls, which in my opinion is phenomenal! Many review sites will say the same! For example, FrostySVT on TripAdvisor says: ”Ordered lunch to go for my wife and I, they had my order ready when I came in to pick it up. My wife ordered the Chicken Tortilla soup and I ordered a ham and provolone sandwich (toasted). Both were very flavorful and delicious. There are a few tables inside to eat in or you can order to go. I highly recommend this restaurant and I look forward to my next visit!”
Heavenly Soups features four freshly made soups daily. Their selections aim to accommodate many diets from vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, and of course, lots of choices for carnivores. Their recipes range from traditional, home-style comforts to sophisticated, modern styles to a wide range of exotic flavors from around the world. In addition to their soups, they create variations of the classic grilled cheese with many mouth watering ingredients.
I advise you go see them at 608 Broadway St. Sheboygan Falls, WI 53085! Enjoy!
Librarian's Corner: After School in the Library
By: Mrs. Staron
The library is open after school every day except Wednesdays and other early release days. Students are welcome to come in to read, do homework, play our collection of games, use Chromebooks, or hang out quietly.
Behavior expectations after school boil down to being aware of how other people are affected by your actions and being considerate of them:
· Use the space in a way that lets others enjoy it, too. Don’t act in ways that are likely to disturb, annoy, or hurt them.
· Turn off your device’s sound or use headphones.
· Use a quiet voice.
· Clean up after yourself.
Starting in April, the library will be hosting a new after-school event: Maker Workshops. Our first Maker Workshop will be held on Monday, April 16. The project will be a chainmail zipper pull/keychain fob. No experience is necessary -- we will supply all tools and materials, and we’ll teach you how to do the project! Stop by the library to sign up.
Movie Review: Ready Player One
If you love 80’s pop culture, then this is the movie for you. In this sci-fi adventure, teenager Wade Watts travels through the OASIS, a virtual reality world, in which the creator, James Halliday, has hidden an easter egg, but this is no ordinary egg. This egg provides complete control of the OASIS, which, who wouldn’t want to control a place where the whole world comes to play? Wade, playing as his avatar, Parzival, and his friends, Aech, Art3mis, Daito and Shoto, hunt for the three keys that will unlock his future. This amazing movie is also a book, which personally, I think is better. But, hey, you can make your own choice when you watch or read this amazing story.
The International Ecology Club at Farnsworth Middle School is hosting our first annual Spring Arts & Crafts Fair! We are hosting the event in the hopes of raising funds to support club activities and initiatives. These projects include creating a community garden, educating students about the environment, and spreading cultural knowledge! If you are an interested shopper, we hope to see you on April 28th!
Come explore what Sheboygan has to offer!
Your contribution will help support our students, the future leaders of Wisconsin!

Book Review: Serafina and the Twisted Staff
By: Shaina Thaves
Serafina and the Twisted Staff, is the second book in a series. This book takes place at Biltmore Estate and the woods around it in Asheville, North Carolina. The setting is actually a real place that you can visit where you can see all the rooms that are mentioned in the book, and you may be able to spot the secret doors! Pretty cool, huh?
The description on the back of the book is listed below in quotation marks. You’ll have to read the first book Serafina and the Black Cloak to find out exactly what’s going on because the Black Cloak is mentioned in the book.
“Serafina’s defeat of the man in the black cloak has brought her out of the shadows and into the daylight realm of her home, Biltmore Estate. Every night she visits her mother in the forest, eager to learn the ways of the catamount. But Serafina finds herself caught between her two worlds: she’s too wild for Biltmore’s beautifully dressed ladies and formal customs, and too human to fully join her kin. When a mysterious series of attacks test Serafina’s role as Biltmore’s protector, she finds herself torn from the side of her best friend and only ally, Braeden Vanderbilt. Heartbroken, she flees. Deep in the forest, Serafina comes face-to-face with the evil infecting Biltmore - and discovers its reach is far greater than she’d ever imagined. All the humans and creatures of the Blue Ridge Mountains are in terrible danger. For Serafina to defeat this new evil before it engulfs her beloved home, she must search deep inside herself and embrace the destiny that has always awaited her.”
Overall, I think this is a really enjoyable book that I think everyone will like. With the story taking place in a real location, helps your mind to envision what the location looks like.
