A Weekly Update from Perkiomen Valley High School

National Merit Semi-Finalists and Commended Students

Each year students who take the PSATs as juniors are eligible to enter the National Merit Scholarship Program. Of the 1.5 million students nationwide who take the exam, the 50, 000 are selected to enter the competition. From the 50,000, the top 16,000 students in the country are selected as semi-finalists. They will compete for Finalist status later this year.

Students who do not qualify as semi-finalists are Commended Students. Although Commended Students do not continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships, some of these students do become candidates for Special Scholarships sponsored by corporations and businesses.

Congratulations to all of our PV students who were entered into the National Merit Scholarship Program!
