Notes from Choir!
..and we're OFF!!
Welcome to the 2019-2020 School Year!!
Hello and welcome to choir. For some of you, welcome BACK to choir! On most Friday's, you will receive one of these newsletters from me. This is a great way to communicate to you about what is happening in choir on a weekly basis. These newsletters often contain important information that SHOULD have already reached you through your kiddos. In the event that it doesn't, it will be included here.
Our First Day of School Packet was distributed to all choir members on Wednesday. This packet contains all relevant information you and your singer needs to know about choir this year. It contains the expectations of the class (both behavior guidelines and consequences), the dates of our performances and opportunities for you to help this year. We have close to 400 kids singing and we could use all the help we can get! :) The packet is included below. All students should return the signature page of this packet on or before Wednesday. August 21st
Sycamore Singing Company
Sycamore Singing Company, nicknamed "SSC" for short, will hold auditions on August 27th and 28th. SSC is an auditioned group and is open to all students at SJH. If you have a student who loves to sing and dance, they should attend an information meeting next week. (Tuesday 8/20 and Wednesday 8/21) My teaching partner, Jesse Callahan, is the director of this group. He can be reached at callahanj@sycamoreschools.org See the handout below for all pertinent information!
Open House Tuesday
I'm looking forward to seeing and meeting many of you on Tuesday evening. Our Open House begins at 6:00 p.m. If you are unable to attend, I will be sending home our Open House packet with students on Wednesday.
ONE more thing...
Each choir student needs to have a folder (2 pockets on either side with prongs in the middle) filled with lined notebook paper. This is our "textbook" for choir class. They will carry this to class daily all year long. I will be checking notebooks on Wednesday for a grade. Thanks for your help with this!!
1000 Marbles
Today, I shared with the choirs the story of 1000 Marbles. I've attached the story here. How many marbles do you have? I gave every student a marble and asked them to put it somewhere that they can see it and be reminded to make every day count!
