Important Events & Dates from F.AVE
March 24, 2020
Ms. Newton's Notes
I hope that everyone is in good health and have made strides in adjusting to this period of time at home. F.AVE's teachers have been working so hard each day to figure out what learning can look like for our students. We have tried to plan in a way that offers flexibility to most family dynamics while maintaining high quality opportunities to learn. As we reach our 11th day of being out of school, you will notice a shift from only optional assignments to both optional practice and required assignments. Your teachers will share with you what subject area is the focus for each day of the week. Below is a sample of what your week could look like. Your students would have 1-2 assignments for the day and a specials activity that will be required. Teachers will also offer other optional assignments and activities that could enrich or remediate students' learning.
Our Guiding Principles have been:
We can not recreate the school day for students at home
We must consider the varying family dynamics in our choices about required/graded work
We must create space for every teacher to engage with students
Screen time should be limited to about 1 hour no more than 1.5
Student assigned tasks should include activities that do not require screen time
Assessed work should have a rubric that details criteria for levels of mastery/proficiency
Should you need to reach any F.AVE staff member, we have included our office hours here. Please know that these are general time frames that you can make contact with staff and get a fairly quick response. However, feel free to reach out to us at any time. We will be as responsive as we can to needs and questions.
Every day F.AVE Falcons Rise UP to be:
Risk Takers who
Inquire about global issues.
Striving to be open minded.
Unique in every way. F.AVE students are
Powerful young minds who lead the way!
Have a fantastic week!
