December News & Notes

Meadowview's Monthly Newsletter

Please help us and take the 5Essentials survey if you have not yet done so.

The reports we receive will give us information to help us improve. However, we won't be able to receive those reports unless we have 20% of our parents take the survey.

Your identity and survey responses are kept completely confidential and are never be connected to you or your child. The Illinois 5Essentials Survey will be conducted November 15, 2018 through January 18, 2019.

If you have more than one (1) child and they attend the same school, you may participate multiple times. Parents with children enrolled in multiple schools may participate in the survey for each school. Only one parent per household may participate in the survey.

To take the survey please visit and select the appropriate survey to begin.

Cold Weather is Here!

We go outside most days for recess. Our deciding factor is when the temperature or wind chill is 20 degrees or below.

If your child cannot go outside for a medical reason, please be sure to send a note from your child's doctor. Otherwise, students do go outside!

When it's cold outside our students need cold weather gear! We go outside most days! Students need warm coats, gloves, hats, and scarves. When it snows they need boots and snow pants if they want to play in the snow! You may want to send an extra pair of pants and socks. No one likes to sit in wet clothes all afternoon!

Family Reading Night

It was awesome to see so many families out at Family Reading Night! Our visitor "Wilbur" (Daisy) was a big hit! And our teachers did a great job with the Readers' Theatre! The 4th & 6th grade scarecrows were the 2 winners!

No action is required for students currently receiving gifted services.

6th Grade Field Trip

The 6th graders went on a field trip to visit various places of worship for their Religious Freedom social studies unit. The adults with whom they came in contact at each site were very impressed with their respectful behavior and insightful questions. Ms. Bell, Mrs. Nickels, Ms. Link, Ms. Dudenas, Ms. Danko, Mrs. Love, & Mr. Khan were very impressed as well. The students were very well prepared for their trip and this will help them as they continue their study of the 5 major religions of the world.
