The LMC opens to study halls on Monday, January 11

I'm not sure how the closing of senior lounge will affect our numbers, let alone the Per. 9 and 10 numbers. Your calendar will be delivered by the monitors this afternoon. For now:

Every other day: 1, 2, 3, 4/5, 4/6, 6/8, 7/8, and 10
Every third day: 9

Period 9 teachers: On non-library days, please keep all students with LMC passes until you get a call from us.

Students may only visit us once a day. Also, please keep students without passes in your study hall when it isn't library day--don't send them to us to find a book if they forget to bring work to study hall. (That defeats the purpose of the schedule...)

English I projects on display through January 15

Students in Ms. Mercer-Curtis' English I classes created new book jackets or slide presentations for their Fiction Choice Book Projects, which are on display in the LMC through January 15.

How many book pages can you read in three weeks?

The 7th Annual Rotary Reading Challenge runs January 18-Feb. 8

The Rochelle Rotary Club sponsors our annual reading challenge, donating $1,000 to purchase new books for the LMC if students and staff meet the reading goal. We are reading in teams again this year, and team sign-ups will be next week. There are many more details to come next week, but here are the important dates:

Friday, Jan. 15 Team rosters are due to Mrs. Jinkins. Teams may have 2-6 students and MUST have one RTHS staff member (Teacher, Support Staff, Café, Maintenance, Administrator, etc.). The team captain MUST be a student.
Monday, January 18 Reading begins! Count the number of book pages you read each week and report to your captain.
January 25, February 1, and February 8 Captains will report team reading stats every Monday using a Google form on the LMC Edline page.
Grand Prizes will be announced/awarded on February 9 and 10.

If you have a lime green Rotary Reading Challenge T-shirt from last year, please wear it on Monday, January 18.

400 Years After His Death, Shakespeare's First Folio Goes Out On Tour

"One of the world's most precious volumes starts a tour on Monday, in Norman, Okla. The Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C., is sending out William Shakespeare's First Folio to all 50 states to mark the 400th anniversary of the bard's death. Published seven years after he died, the First Folio is the first printed collection of all of Shakespeare's plays." --NPR

This is a REALLY big deal for fans of Shakespeare, the theater, books, and history. Helpful links:
