DECA Students Make a House a Home
Our DECA students made a house a home for a mother and her five children who had been homeless after fleeing an abusive relationship. Prior to our arrival, the family had been in shelters, sleeping in blankets on the floor, and without any furniture.
With the dedication of our DECA students, the chapter, and the generosity of our community we were able to raise over $3,500 and provide our students the opportunity to do a day of service with Humble Design Detroit where we completely furnished a home for this family. Read more here.
That's called using the 4C's! Nice work DECA!
Congratulations OEC Students!
OEC students raised $740 for the Pulsera Project! The Pulsera Project is a nonprofit that educates, empowers, and connects Central American artists with students through the sale of colorful hand woven bracelets, or "pulseras."
Each pulsera is a one-of-a-kind work of art and comes tagged with the photo and signature of the artist who made it. The funds raised from the pulsera sales are used for scholarships, secondary education programs, healthcare, human rights issues, environmental projects, and social enterprises, in addition to providing employment for artisans in Guatemala and Nicaragua.
Way to go OEC!
