Library News 2nd Six Weeks

Teen Read Week

Teen Read Week was celebrated from October 9th - 15th. Teens all across America were encouraged to vote for their favorite teen book. Students here at KMS were brought into the library to see the 26 nominees the week before. Once Teen Read Week started, they came in to vote for their favorite book. The voting closed at the end of the week and the top 10 favorite teen reads were announced. Students had a great time voting for their favorite book. They can't wait to do it again next year.

Eli Martinez Visits KMS!

Eli Martinez, founder of Shark Diver Magazine, came to Kennedy Middle School to show us just why he is so fantastic at what he does. Students from Mrs. Erica Castillo's 6th grade classes were invited to join in on this fabulous presentation. She really wanted to incorporate some science into her lesson, in addition to giving her students open ended questions about Eli's presentation. Even Board Member, Mr. Jesse Vela, was in attendance for this presentation with this former PSJA graduate and alumni. It was absolutely amazing to see the kind of work he has done with one of nature's most talked about water creatures!
