Principal's Message
Dear Maureen M. Welch Families,
This week we have had an opportunity to connect with students and families on a larger scale and we certainly hope to hear and see more of you!! Staying connected is important during times like these. We hope that your child is able to make the most of the times teachers are reaching out virtually. We all feel brighter and more positive when we can reach out to someone and have a simply a moment to interact!
The district's Student Wellness activities give opportunities for some fun, something different in which to engage while we stay at home. We hope you check them out. The activities will change weekly and will get us away from screen time (well, mostly!)
Stay well, stay safe, and stay positive,
Rebecca Grimm

The link will be activated on Monday, April 20th at 9:00 AM.
The staff at Maureen M. Welch will work together to identify the best class placement for your child. Thank you in advance for your continued partnership and support as we begin the class placement process.

Virtual Kit Kat Card Submission Form.
On Fridays, ten lucky students will be randomly selected to receive a certificate via an email to their parents and have their name announced on WBC! These announcements will have a one week lag.
Flexible Friday's
Dr. Fraser recently sent an email to the school district community about our continued focus on student wellness. In response to this focus, beginning this Friday, April 24th and every Friday thereafter, students will have a WIN Day (What I Need). There will be no new learning on Fridays. We feel strongly that students needs this time for:
- catching up on work from the week
- WIN time - What I Need
- enjoy and participate in enrichment or remediation activities
- opportunities for small groups for academics or social emotional needs
- visit with a specialist or specials area teacher
- participate in special areas assignments
- engage in some wellness activities
This is certainly not an all-inclusive list, simply an example of how students may remain engaged without learning new concepts.

Student Attendance During Distance Learning
While Council Rock students are engaged in Distance Learning, the following procedures will be implemented to track student attendance:
- Beginning Monday, April 20, 2020, students/families will be responsible for recording their attendance each day.
- ALL Elementary teachers will be provided with a link from their building principal to post in their Google Classroom for students to be able to access.
- Students will click the link ONCE per day to record their attendance for that day.
- Students are NOT required to record their attendance for each class.
- Teachers are encouraged to remind their students to record their daily attendance within their weekly updates.
- Attendance secretaries will email the link community-wide every day at the start of each school day.
- If a student is absent, parents/guardians can reply to the attendance secretary reporting the absence. Those who do not fill out the Form will be marked absent; excused absences should be emailed to the attendance secretary.
- Each school day, students and / or parents will access the link to the Attendance Form, and enter a valid email address (students are encouraged to use their school address), and their student ID number.
- Attendance is being recorded from 12:00AM to 11:59PM on a school day. Students and parents CANNOT record attendance in advance - this must be completed each day.
- Parents / guardians of multiple CR children MUST complete this Form once for each of their students; students CANNOT be combined into a single record.
- The Attendance Form needs to be completed once each day in order for a student’s presence in Distance Learning days to be recorded; however, no issues will occur if a student and / or a parent records the attendance several times.
- If students do not know their student ID number, families can log into HAC, click the registration icon, click the demographic tab, and in the top left corner is the student ID.
Support From Our Guidance Counselor
During our Distance Learning, there may still be times in which students need the support of our guidance counselor, Mrs. Nancy Jachimski. She is available during this time to assist students and their families.
