FUTURE TIGER REGISTRATION COMING SOON
Online registration for 2022-23 Dripping Springs ISD pre-K and kindergarten students opens Monday, March 7, 2022. In addition, new students enrolling in DSISD schools for the 2022-23 school year can also begin online registration on this date. For pre-K students, DSISD offers a full-day program at each of the district's elementary campuses. The program is available to all eligible students on a tuition basis; students may qualify under the state-mandated free program. More information on our Pre-Kindergarten Program can be found here. DSHS GIRLS' SWIM TEAM FINISHES NINTH AT STATE MEET
Powered by five top-10 finishes, the Dripping Springs High School girls’ swimming and diving team tied for ninth place with 92 points at the UIL 5A State Meet on Saturday, Feb. 19, in Austin.
Highlighting Saturday’s action was the third-place finish by the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Athena Turner, Macie McCurry, Anna Hoskovec and Riley Dalton (pictured). The quartet also captured fourth place in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a school-record time of 1:38.43, totaling a combined 61 points for the girls’ team between the two relay events.
Hoskovec was also successful individually, finishing seventh in the 500-yard freestyle and 10th in the 200-yard freestyle. She posted a school-record time of 5:05.14 in the 500-yard freestyle prelims. Audrey Wilson rounded out the point scoring for the Tigers by placing seventh in one-meter diving. The ninth-place finish is the best for the Tigers since winning the UIL State Meet in 2018.
For the boys, the 200-yard medley relay team of Colin O’Connor, Gage Hembree, Joseph Parsons and Aidan Jones finished 13th. Hembree and Parsons also teamed up with Wyatt Johnson and Nolan Granger in the 400-yard freestyle relay to place 14th. Individually, Hembree advanced to the finals in the 100-yard breaststroke to finish 16th. The boys’ team totaled 14 points to finish 36th as a team.
THREE DSHS WRESTLERS PLACE AT STATE MEET; BOYS' TEAM FINISHES NINTH
A school-record three Dripping Springs High School wrestlers earned top-five finishes at the UIL 5A State Meet on Saturday, Feb. 19, in Cypress to pace the boys’ wrestling team to a ninth-place finish.
Grant Clarno (220 pounds) placed fourth in his weight class to come away with the highest finish for the Tigers, while Hagen Shipley (126) and Alec Rill (195) recorded fifth-place finishes. All three wrestlers made their second appearance at the UIL State Meet.
The Dripping Springs boys’ team was represented by nine wrestlers at the state competition with seven recording at least one win. The ninth-place team finish is the highest for the Tigers since 2019 with the team totaling 51.5 points in the 103-team field. Other state qualifiers were Abel Silverman (106), Taylor Van De Walle (113), Shane Bookbinder (138), Seth Rill (160), Ben Lourens (170), and Dominic Parmeson (182).
The DSHS girls’ team tied for 43rd place out of 91 teams with eight points. Alyson Brownson-Welch (128) and Carson Crow (110) are just the second and third DSHS female wrestlers to score points at the state meet. Brownson-Welch made her third state appearance while Crow and Caroline Nix (138) were first-time qualifiers.
TIGER BAND STUDENTS ADVANCE TO UIL STATE SOLO AND ENSEMBLE CONTEST
Eleven Dripping Springs High School band students qualified for the 2022 UIL State Solo and Ensemble Contest after memorizing and receiving a “Superior Rating” on their Class 1 solo at the UIL Solo and Ensemble regional competition at Hays High School.

In addition, 89 DSHS students and one ensemble earned Superior Ratings on their pieces. The eleven state qualifiers will compete in the UIL state event from May 28-30.
LONG-RANGE FACILITY PLANNING UPDATE
The Long-Range Facility Planning Committee (LRFPC) held its final meeting of the 2021-22 school year on Wednesday, Feb. 16. Presentation slides and a video recording of the meeting can be found here. On Monday, Feb. 28, Superintendent Dr. Holly Morris-Kuentz, Director of Facilities and Construction Clint Pruett, and Cooperative Strategies' Scott Leopold will give an overview of the committee's work and present the group's recommendations to the DSISD Board of Trustees.

February is Love the Bus Month! The month-long celebration highlights appreciation for bus drivers who transport students to and from school every day and the importance of school buses. Dripping Springs ISD drivers transport approximately 3,800 students between home and school, and buses collectively drive more than 4,000 miles each day.
DSISD is currently hiring bus drivers with pay starting at $18.75/hour, and $20.75/hour for drivers working both morning and afternoon shifts. To apply, click here.
