Super Staff Spotlight
This week our Staff Spotlight is on Ashley Flaherty who is a 2nd grade teacher. Ashley has showed all of our growth mindset stances in the first couple weeks of school. She showed flexibility when she moved to 2nd grade from 5th, optimism in her success this year and empathy towards her not very independent new babies. Since Ashley hasn’t taught math in a while she was anxious about getting it started, how should it look? How can I learn the content in an effective way so I feel comfortable differentiating? Instead of letting this get her down, she has showed resiliency to overcome her fears and did what all teachers should do when they have fear….ask for help. She is meeting weekly with our new CST, Diana Zarzour (who should have a mini-spotlight for adding so much value already to our school as a leader) who helped her structure her math class in an effective way. I was in her classroom yesterday, and although everything wasn’t “perfect” (growth mindset right?) it was GOOD! Ms. Flaherty had a group where she was doing a leveled mini-lesson and practice with a small group of students. Her other students were in stations such as math review games and independent work (both which were differentiated for the students need based on their pre-assessment and a technology station. She had processes and routines in place that I could tell had been practiced. Every student was working on their level and was therefore engaged….in week 3! Her persistence paid off! Great work Ashley!!!

NEW PKES Employees
All NEW PKES employees need to complete the online review by August 31st. If you are new to Fulton or to a PKES position, you will need to complete a PKES platform support request. This takes more than 24 hours to be completed so please don't wait until the 30th to make your request.
To access the PKES platform, login to the employee portal and click the “GO Talent Management” icon. On the left side of the page, you can select “ Electronic PKES Platform” or “PKES-TKES-LKES Platform Support” if you are new and need to be added to the platform. Let me know if you need help with this process.

TKES
Now that we finally have access to the TKES platform, it is important that everyone completes their requirements by August 31st. These were just sent to you yesterday, but I am including them again here in the interest of keeping things in one place.
- Open a NEW Internet Explorer browser window (close out all previously opened sessions).
- Login to the Employee Portal (www.fultonschools.org)
- Click on TAC and login.
- At the top of the screen, click on Tools and select the last choice on the dropdown menu.
- When this screen loads, at the top of the screen, click on the TKES button.
All TKES employees must complete the 1. Online Orientation 2. Self-assessment and 3. Professional Learning Goals or Professional Learning Plan by August 31st.
Teachers who are in their first 3 years of teaching, who have moved to GA from out of state, who are returning to the classroom after more than a year, or who are teaching in a new area of certification, or who scored below a level 3 on TAPS last year, must complete a Professional Learning Plan. All other teachers may simply enter Professional Learning Goals. We will review these at your pre-evaluation conferences in September.

PAWS PD
Hello! Thank you to everyone who filled out the PAWS PD Survey! I took all of the information you gave me and made some changes to PAWS PD for this school year. Below you will find the new updates!
- PAWs PD sessions will be limited to 30 minutes a session! If a session needs to be longer, we will make sure to note the time frame.
- Only 2 PAWS PD sessions are required a year, unless recommended by Admin.
- All sessions will be on a schedule- Monday or Thursday.
- A monthly interest form will be sent out in our new Admin Blog. This will allow you to sign up for a session when you are ready.
- I will have a form on the NPE Google Drive so you can see what sessions you have attended at any time.
Want to be a teacher leader and help support our NPE staff? Please check out our September PAWS PD Sign Up! The last survey you took really was anonymous so if you selected something you wanted to teach then, I do not know who you are! Please sign up on this link so you can help share all of your amazing knowledge!
Hearing and Vision Screenings 9/6
Staff and parent volunteers will be working together to screen students for hearing and vision on Thursday September 6th. 1st grade = just hearing, 3rd grade gets both, and 5th grade = just vision. Students need to bring glasses with them to the screening. Open the outlook calendar event on the master calendar for the schedule.
