KHP Alumni Spotlight: Darrien Cantelo (Class of 2016)
"I am working as a pediatric physical therapist in Port Moody, British Columbia, Canada. Treating ages 0-18, in a wide variety of conditions from musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiorespiratory and gross motor development."
What is your favorite memory at KHP?
"I can’t pick just one. Every minute I spent learning, every minute in labs, every minute in the AT room, every minute on the field, every interaction with profs, every interaction with student athletes, every minute walking the VCSU campus, they all stand out to me.
My experience at VCSU in the KHP department was made amazing by faculty and staff who made me feel like VCSU was my home."
Advice to a current KHP student?
"#1 take advantage of EVERY opportunity! Join that committee, volunteer, ask for any opportunity you can. Ultimately all of these things will make you a stronger student, will help you with your time management, and your clinical experiences. Get out of your comfort zone with your learning!
#2. Take the time to get to know your professors in the KHP department. Email your prof and ask for a time to meet, get to know them, let them get to know you. VCSU has an amazing culture of small class sizes and incredible profs, and the KHP department may be the best of all!"HPER 314: Activities for Physical Educator ~ Peer Teaching ~
