From the Principal
Mott Owl Families,
Enrollment for students new to Mott for the 2022-2023 school year begins Monday, March 21. All of the information needed, including the forms that must be completed can be found at this link: https://www.pfisd.net/domain/232 Existing Pre-K students will need to re-enroll for kindergarten and provide one proof of residency. If your child is a current K-5 student at Mott, you do not need to re-enroll.
Enrolling new students before the end of the school year is very important, because we base staffing numbers on enrollment numbers. If we need more teachers, we would want to know that now instead of knowing that in August. Please pass this information along to all your new neighbors!
Please contact our registrar, Mr. Ray, for any enrollment questions. steven.ray@pfisd.net or 512-594-4738
Stay safe and well,
Tammy Rebecek
PTO Meeting In Person - Tuesday, March 22nd - 6:00 p.m.
Visitors on Campus
In anticipation of the district allowing parents and visitors to be on campus during the school day (Very exciting!), I wanted to make sure that you know about the protocols that are required. Please wait for a district announcement before planning to visit.
- Per district requirements, visitors must have their driver's license scanned and entered into the Raptor visitor system. This system runs a background check on all visitors.
- Students will still walk independently to class. That has been the procedure since Mott opened in 2017. If you need to speak to the teacher in person, please contact the teacher and make an appointment.
- Eating lunch with your child: Tables will be set up in the hallways for parents to eat lunch with their child. Parents are not permitted to eat lunch inside the cafeteria due to spacing constraints. With over 860 students, our cafeteria is packed! The teacher will bring the class to the cafeteria, so you can meet your child there. You may go through the serving line and purchase a cafeteria lunch, or you may bring food. Please know that you may not bring students other than your own child into the hallway for lunch. Lunch times can be found here: Lunch Times 2021-2022 Please come early to allow time to go through the process of getting a visitor's badge. Sometimes there is a line of visitors getting a badge at the same time.
- Volunteering: We are excited about this! Teachers would appreciate help making instructional materials, refreshing bulletin boards, etc. To be on campus as a volunteer, it is a district requirement that you fill out the Volunteer Application which includes a background check. Please know that it can take 2-4 weeks for approval. You will receive an email from the district upon approval.
Please call the front office for any questions about visiting the campus. 512-594-4700
HERITAGE DOLLS School Wide Optional Project
1. Ask your family what countries and/or cultures their relatives came from.
2. There may be several countries, but choose one that most interests you.
3. Use your person cut-out to represent you and your heritage. Decorate it in attire that would be worn or had been worn in that country. (ex: Japan-kimono, Spain-bullfighter, Russia-ballerina, Scotland-kilt, France-knight, Peru-farmer) Books or the internet can be a great place for ideas. Be creative!
4. You can add something to represent the countries, such as a country flag, if you would like.
5. Put your name and the main country you chose on the back of the person cut-out.
**Ideas for decorating: Use fabrics, foam, google eyes, foil, ribbons, buttons, cotton, construction paper, yarn etc.
**Your parents can help you to come up with ideas and with the gathering of materials.
We would appreciate dolls being returned in by March 25, but we will accept them after this date.
You may bring them in earlier if you are finished before March 25.

Hello Mott Parent-
Students spend a lot of time on their electronic devices, including social media. We know many of our students have access to social media, and wanted to share the following articles with you in the name of safety. Please take a moment to read the linked articles below (one specifically talks about TikTok), and then check your child's devices; we appreciate the partnership with you!

Texas Compulsory Attendance Law
- A student with 10 or more absences may also be subject to truancy prevention measures as decided by the court. Parents may be criminally charged or fined if their child continues to miss school.
- The 90 percent rule: Students must attend 90 percent of school days to receive credit for that grade level and be considered for promotion to the next grade. That would mean that a student many not have more than 17 absences, even excused absences, in a school year.
Here is information from the TEA website: Compulsory Attendance
This is a condensed version: My Texas Public School
More importantly, regular school attendance plays a vital role in student success!
