GMS Welcomes 5th Graders!

The Easley High School Class of 2024--otherwise known as rising Gettys Middle School 6th-graders--were welcomed to Gettys with a Fine Arts Showcase and a tour of campus on Monday, February 20. Hundreds of students visited from Crosswell, McKissick, West End, East End and Forest Acres elementary schools. Please scroll down for video highlights!

Dr. Cory spoke about Gettys Greatness and then there was music! Mr. Young and Mr. Finley led the band, the strings students played under the direction of Ms. Atkins, and our amazing GMS chorus sang several selections chosen by Mrs. Batson and Mrs. Byrd.

The campus tour, which began in the auditorium, included a walk through the 6th grade academic hallway, where students could see the locations of classrooms, restrooms, and Assistant Principal Mr. Roper's office. Students passed by the media center, got a first-hand look at the cafeteria, and walked to the bus loop and car loop.

The tour also included exploratory classrooms such as the STEM/Robotics lab, Medical Detectives, Google Basics, Financial Literacy and Multimedia and Graphic Arts. Our visitors even stopped by the Canteen, found 6th grade restrooms and got a good look at middle school lockers!
