Lenten Reflection
Pray - is love for God
Fast - Is love for yourself
Give - is love for others

Rebecca Clarke | Principal
Dear parents and caregivers,
I hope you all had a wonderful extra-long weekend and enjoyed some quality time with your families.
Wellness
Last Friday the staff from St Elizabeth’s and St Luke’s joined together for a well-being day with keynote presenter, Dr Mike Newton from Thrive Organisational Wellness. Dr Newton is a consultant and clinical physiologist who specialises in lifestyle medicine and coaching for corporations and educational institutions, with an emphasis on wellbeing, nutrition, and metal health. Staff came away with a deeper understanding about the importance of healthy eating, diet and exercise and the role it plays on our mental health. All staff left the day with an Individual 12 Week Health and Wellness Plan.
Lent
We are already in our third week of Lent. On Wednesday our talented Year Four students shared their liturgy with us, with a focus on the Lenten season and prayer. Thank you to Sue Curtis for preparing our students so reverently and beautifully. Father Peter, thank you for leading us in the prayer service and making your homily so meaningful to our young students. It was wonderful to see so many parents and grandparents come along and support the Year Four students.
Jesus knew the importance of prayer and when Jesus’ disciples saw him praying, they asked him to teach them how to pray.
International Women's Day
On Wednesday we celebrated International Women’s Day by treating all staff to a hot beverage from the amazing, Warren at Expresso. We are truly blessed to be surrounded by so many strong, intelligent, talented, and caring women on staff. To our male staff, thank you for always supporting us and holding us up. #teamworkmakesthedreamwork
School Improvement with Fogarty EDvance
On Thursday and Friday this week, the Leadership Team (Rebecca, Kim and I) together with our Middle Leader’s (Nadia and Chris (LSL) attended a two-day workshop with a focus on school improvement and the relationship between 6 core areas: Conditions for Learning, Curriculum and Teaching, Professional Development, Parents and Community Support, Leadership and Developing a Shared Moral Purpose.
As part of our three-year journey with the Fogarty EDvance Team, we will start by sending out a Parent and Community Survey next week, as part of our reflective practice and feedback data. I ask that you please take 5 minutes to complete the survey, as the more feedback we have the more we can meet the needs of our community.
Naplan
We wish our Year 3 and Year 5 students all the best as they begin their Naplan Assessments next week. Please see attached letter to parents.
Parent Workshop Rescheduled
Lastly, unfortunately due to a role change our Parent Workshop scheduled for Wednesday, 15 March will be postponed until next term.
Have a wonderful weekend!

NAPLAN for Year 3 and Year 5
Please see the information below regarding NAPLAN 2023 Testing Schedule. Students in Year 3 and 5 have had NAPLAN information sent home by their classroom teachers. NAPLAN (the National Assessment Program- Literacy and Numeracy) will take place in Week 7 commencing on Wednesday, 15 March.
In order to assist the students in preparing for this, they have participated in practise tests, in class before they sit the official NAPLAN test to familiarise them with the test layouts and conditions.
The table below outlines the days students will complete the NAPLAN tests:

It is strongly encouraged that all students make every effort to attend school on the days NAPLAN is scheduled. However, if a child is absent due to sickness, ACARA (the Australian, Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority) permits schools to provide catch up sessions on specific days.
• Students will be permitted to complete two tests per day for any missed tests.
• Any incomplete tests after these dates, cannot be completed.
ACARA has a NAPLAN online public demonstration site.

This is available for parents, teachers, and students to view and interact with test items. The site also contains several resources that will continue to be updated.
