TIME for Math...

We wrapped up our unit on measurement this week, and have moved on to telling time! Please practice telling time with your child at home. This can be as simple as looking at the clock and asking, what time is it? You can further the conversation with more questions. Here are some examples:

  • What time will it be in 5 minutes?
  • What time is it when I say, "quarter after 6" or "quarter to 3"?
  • What time was it 10 minutes ago?

Thanks for your help and support!

Superkids!

The Superkids has been SUPER fun! We just wrapped up Unit 5 and are moving on to Unit 6. In addition to our daily word work, we will be working on a research paper. We will be integrating science into this unit and students will be researching an animal of their choice.

I will be sending Superkids Backpack pages home. These are great practice for your child! They do NOT have to do these. They can return them to school if they'd like and I will give them a sticker. They will not be corrected. I strongly encourage you to read the fluency page each night with your child. It will take 2-5 minutes. Thanks!

Science

We are finishing up our unit on the Solar System. Next week, students will be assessed. They will need to know the planets in order. They are:

Mercury

Venus

Earth

Mars

Jupiter

Saturn

Uranus

Neptune

After we wrap up our space unit, we will begin researching animals!

Student Section!

Each week, we read this newsletter on the Smartboard before I email it to you. The kids would like to add some things. We will be including a "Student Section". Enjoy!

Isabellah: We met a Marine, Mr. Crum.

Jason: We found out some facts about China.

Devon: It was cool!

Mrs. Simac: To everyone in the dance show - have fun and good luck! Can't wait to watch you!

#positivepostitday

Friday was positive post - it day at ERES. We watched the below Kid President video and focused on the message, "If you don't have anything nice to say, you aren't trying hard enough!" We practiced how to give a good compliment:

  • Be positive!
  • Be truthful: make sure you believe what you say.
  • Be as specific as possible.
  • Think about what you like or admire about the person.
  • Consider the person's strengths and talents.

We also discussed different character traits that we could personally compliment; for example: kind, generous, creative, considerate, responsible, respectful, understanding, helpful, loving, enthusiastic, nice, truthful, and awesome!
