Husky Happenings Family Edition
Week of January 31st
Welcome Back/Grades/COVID PROTOCOLS/Nurse's Notes/Rescheduled HB 4545 Reading Tutoring
Welcome Back Huskies!! I hope you enjoyed the short break and were able to rest, relax and recover. Last Friday, marked the end of the 3 week grading period. Use the button below to check your students grades in Skyward. Please reach out to your student's teachers if you have any concerns. On campus, e are continuing to encourage your students to continue to social distance, use the hand sanitizing stations both in class and in the halls, wear a mask and to bring a refillable water bottle with them daily. Currently, only the bottle fillers are open on our campus. Many of our classes have reinstituting desk shields and rows. Please take a moment to review the Nurse's Notes button below to see the latest protocols for reporting COVID positives and when to keep your students home. Don't forget!! This Saturday, February 5th we will be holding our final HB 4545 READING Tutoring session here at HFMS. Please see below for more information about this weekend's session and future sessions. Please remember to reach out if you have any questions.

We will be participating in an 8th grade STAAR ELA Field Test on Wednesday, February 16th. Students will have the option to take the test on their iPad, so please be sure to submit any work tickets and/or pay fines to allow them to have a working device for this day. 8th grade students will be taking the test from 9:00 - 1:25 in the morning, then go to C lunch. 6th and 7th grade students might attend a different lunch than usual, as they will only have the option of A or B lunch. More detailed information will be coming soon!
Student ID's
90% of students have received their ID cards, lanyard, and ID sleeve. Many students have a yellow and/or purple sticker on the back. These represent a nine weeks where a student did not have an infraction or a referral. It is our expectation that students wear their ID's around their neck. Those students who did not receive their ID card will be receiving one soon.
College Shirt Day
Join us by wearing your favorite college shirt every Wednesday for the remainder of the school year.

Counselor's Corner
Husky Parents,
We want your child to be successful in school, and that means supporting and encouraging their whole development. While excelling in academic classes is important, students also need skills for learning challenges, making good decisions, handling strong emotions, and getting along with others.
We will continue the Second Step® program during huddle this week designed to improve students’ social-emotional skills, such as emotion management, impulse control, problem solving, and empathy. Please see this week’s Parent Letter regarding our objectives.
Stay warm and healthy,
Mrs. Nutt & Mr. Parra
