Vocabulary Unplugged
Revolutionizing How You Teach Vocabulary (K-12)
Workshop Description & Overview
Have you taught and re-taught vocabulary, only to discover that your students still don’t recognize the words the next time they see them?
~Teachers everywhere struggle with how to teach vocabulary so that students actually learn and retain the words, and then demonstrate the ability to recognize and use the words in different settings and situations.
Since vocabulary learning remains a hot topic in literacy education (Reading Today January 2011), join Us for this MRESC Workshop to gain valuable strategies to effectively teach Vocabulary to your students.
FOCUS: This workshop will focus on the critical importance of vocabulary as a foundation for thinking, communicating, and problem-solving, both in and out of the classroom.
WORKSHOP WILL INCLUDE:
~ BRIEF review of both the Ohio’s Learning Content Standards in Vocabulary Acquisition and Use, and The Ohio Model Curriculum material related to Vocabulary.
~A VARIETY of strategies and resources to use in the classroom to teach vocabulary
~AN OPPORTUNITY to trade ideas with other educators
~SEVERAL several hands-on vocabulary activities to engage in.
PLUS . . .
All attendees will receive a copy of Alana Morris’s book “Vocabulary Unplugged” as part of their registration fee.
