Pete the Cat Visits Kindergarten
Kindergarten friends had a visit from Miss Erin and Pete the Cat! They learned about the Upper Saddle River Public Library and listened to a story. The children were excited to meet one of their favorite book characters in real life!
Our Kindergarteners enjoyed a great trip to the USR Firehouse. They learned a lot about the job of the firefighter as part of their study of Community Helpers. October is also Fire Prevention Month.
Second Grade Assembly
Second graders enjoyed a special, hands-on assembly called, “What’s the Matter?” Each class worked with a scientist to complete various experiments to learn more about the states of matter. The children enjoyed using a special mixture to inflate a balloon, mix liquids to demonstrate the density of different liquids, and they even made some special slime! Thank you to the USREF for funding this special assembly!
Community of Cultures Program at Reynolds School
This year, Reynolds School is excited to announce the start of a new school-wide program, Community of Cultures. Community of Cultures invites family members, including parents, guardians, grandparents, and other adults, to lead the children in an experience celebrating your family's culture and traditions.
Experiences could include sharing general information about your culture and traditions or highlighting specific aspects such as celebrations, customs, food, dress, or holidays, among others. These experiences will be approximately 20-25 minutes and involve an activity and opportunity for the children to ask questions. We hope that you will join us.
Recently, Mrs. Biglin's class enjoyed a special Diwali presentation from Mrs. Gowda and Mrs. Rajagopal! They read Binny's Diwali, by Thrity Umrigar. Also, the children decorated dias (candles) with gemstones. It was such a special visit for the entire class. We are thankful to all of our families that have presented or signed up to come in. Thank you for your partnership!
Student Advisory Council
Seven students joined Mrs. Severs to convene the first ever Student Advisory Council at Reynolds School. This group of second graders will be meeting throughout the year to provide feedback and suggestions for ways to make Reynolds School an even better place to learn! The students enjoyed having their voices heard and sharing their ideas!
