Principal Arroyo's Message
Dear Hirsch Families,
It is so hard to believe that we have only three more months of school! This year is speeding by! Maybe it’s because of all this windy and stormy weather we have been having!
Last Friday was the end of the second trimester. Report cards will be available through the Illuminate Parent Portal on March 16th. Thank you in advance for continuing to support and encourage our students to take risks while being responsible scholars.
Have you done your homework and submitted your residency verification forms? This was due February 24th. Confirming your student’s seat for next year is very important so please take care of this asap if you haven’t yet.
We are proud of the effort, grit, and perseverance of our basketball players. They made huge jumps in their growth and it’s about learning how to be the student athletes that we know they are! Soccer is about to begin! While it is a super quick timeline, we are excited to welcome this sport back too for our fourth and fifth grade students.
As a reminder, there is no school on Friday, March 17th. Spring break is around the corner beginning on Friday, April 7th. Once we return from spring break, our Grade 3-5 students will begin their Smarter Balanced and CAST standardized testing.
If you have a new kindergarten student in the 23-24 school year, please make sure to complete the enrollment process. We can’t wait for them to be a Bulldog!
I hope you reserved March 28th for our return of an in-person Hirsch PTA talent show! So exciting!
Take care, Bulldog Family! Let’s start our last trimester strong and keep putting forth our best effort! Congratulations on doing an amazing job with our reading to be able to “visit” the Modern Wonders of the World! Our site’s Science Fair was so educational too! Great job on the projects!
Ms. Arroyo

Lunch Policy Reminder
If you are dropping off a lunch for your student, please place your student’s lunch, clearly marked with the student’s name and room number, on the appropriate grade level shelf of the lunch cart located in front of the office. Please drop off your student’s lunch at least 15 minutes prior to their lunch period.
Lunch Periods for 2022-23
1st - 3rd Grades = Regular Days 11:30am, Minimum Days 11:15am
4th - 5th Grades = Regular Days 12:15pm, Minimum Days 11:40am
Our noon supervisors will be checking the cart 15 minutes prior to the lunch periods and will deliver the lunches to the cafeteria. Any lunches brought to the office cart after the pick-up will not be delivered and your student will have to take a lunch from the cafeteria. Due to the number of students, we cannot accommodate students calling their parents for their missing lunch and they will have to eat the lunch provided in the cafeteria.
Career Week at Hirsch Elementary School
Hello Families,
We are excited to announce that we will be celebrating Career Week from Monday, April 24- Friday, April 28 this school year!
We will be joining in fun activities such as participating in dress-up days, listening to volunteers present about their careers, and doing activities in our classes to explore our futures!
We are asking for parent/guardian volunteers to participate in Career Week to help our Bulldogs learn about various career choices to help them explore their interests, skills, and goals.
If you are interested in being a Career Day presenter by sharing about what you do for a living, please fill out this Google Form by Friday, March 24.
Our students are excited to learn from you.
Thank you in advance for your help!
Warmly,
Chiara Hanna, School Counselor
Mrs. Winmill's Reading Corner
March Reading Corner
This month will be an exciting month for the library. We started off with Read Across America Week. Thanks to the tremendous efforts of our students we were able to read 2,039 books which translated into 50,975 miles. We were able to make it around the world visiting all Seven Wonders of the Modern World with plenty of extra miles left over (16,001 miles to be exact)! Phenomenal job, Bulldogs! We easily exceeded the amount of books we read last year. Let’s try for 2,500 books for next year!
Another exciting activity we will have in the library this month is an interactive Battleship game on the bulletin board. Students will be able to play a classic board game against me. We will also play another game which will be a surprise! Students will have to come in during lunch to find out what it will be.
Take care and keep reading!
Mrs. Kristen Winmill
