Meet Your Child's Counselor
Greetings to you!
I am Tonya Blake Baker, the School Counselor for all of Track 2 and 6th and 7th Grade Track 3. I was born and raised in Concord, North Carolina. Concord is outside of Charlotte where we are known for Concord Motor Speedway, the Wolf Lodge and Concord Mills Outlet. I am a graduate of North Carolina State University and chose to be a counselor because I enjoy working with youth.
I will provide services such as classroom guidance, small group sessions, and individual counseling to connect with your child. I believe that we are all lifelong learners and I Iearn from them as much as they will learn me. I am here to assist you and your child through this nervous but exciting journey! I am looking forward to working with you this year!
Please feel free to contact me at tbaker2@wcpss.net or (919) 570-2279.
Classroom Guidance Lessons
Interact Agency
As adults, we can all agree that there is too much violence in the world. In an effort to educate our students on how to build better relationships, assist them in making positive choices and empower them to lead healthy and violence-free lives, I have arranged for a speaker from Interact to present information on the following topic:
Learning ways to express anger in healthy ways and solve conflict in non-violent ways, as well as learning ways to respond to bullying
6th GradeTrack 2 November 7, 2014-Lowry
6th Grade Track 3 November 21, 2014-Boriotti
If you do not want your child to receive this information, please notify me in writing prior to the above date. You may either e-mail me or send a note with your student. I will make arrangements for them to be out of the classroom at that time. Thank you.

Academic Support Informational Session through Communities In Schools
Parents,
As you may have heard on the weekly voicemail, Communities In Schools will be holding an informational session at 6:00 pm Thursday, Sept 18 at Rolesville Middle School. Communities In Schools is interested in partnering with RMS to host a SMART Academy. The SMART Academy is designed to enhance reading and math skills. The activities will meet students at their skill level and advance them academically. The program focuses on three areas: Project Based Learning, Interactive Instruction and Small Group Instruction.
We are looking to host the academy, at RMS, on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12 pm starting October 18. There will be only 50 slots available for students in the SMART Academy Weekend. Please make plans to attend the informational session, if you are interested in additional information. You can also check out their Web site at www.ciswake.org. The phone number is (919) 834-5663.
