Greetings from Dr. Rose
Sickness
As this year’s flu season gains traction across the country – we need your help. While District 7 has avoided the staggering absence rates that many schools are experiencing, our nurses are reporting a recent spike in flu cases. In an effort to slow the spread of respiratory illnesses in the District, our school custodians are paying special attention to disinfecting classrooms and cleaning surface areas touched most often – such as desks, computer keyboards, faucet handles and phones. As we continue to be vigilant, we encourage our families to heed the following information from the Centers for Disease Control:
• Children with flu-like symptoms should stay at home for at least 24 hours or until the fever is gone.
• Children should be reminded to cover their mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing.
• Hand washing with soap and water is one of the best ways to remove germs and prevent illness.
